Hello Matador Community,

We're staying cool here at Mira Loma despite the heat this week!

It's been an exciting week on campus, filled with flower parties, school spirit, and preparations as we gear up for Homecoming Week next week!

Our Football and Flag Football teams also hosted their Pink Out games in support of Breast Cancer Awareness, and both teams came away with wins!

We also held a schoolwide Mock Election, organized by our Social Science Department and led by Mr. Kuzmich. This was a wonderful opportunity for students to experience civic participation firsthand.

As we continue celebrating Hispanic Heritage Month, we are also proud to recognize October as Filipino American History Month, honoring the history, culture, and contributions of Filipino Americans. Meanwhile, our students and classes are hard at work preparing for our upcoming Día de los Muertos celebration on November 2.

There is so much happening across our campus, and it's exciting to see our students and staff bringing these experiences to life.

What an amazing time to be a Matador!

Our Social Science Department hosted a schoolwide Mock Election on Tuesday. Students voted for Governor and weighed in on 14 propositions using the California Secretary of State’s materials for high school students.

What makes it especially cool is that the event was run entirely by our Mock Election Student Committee.

The Mock Election ran in all periods of the Social Science classes throughout the day.

Thank you to those of you who have already donated to the Mira Loma PO! The Mira Loma PO (Parent Organization) is trying to raise at least $5,000.00 this fall in donations to support our school, staff, and community through mini-grants.

Donate Now: https://miralomaibpo.square.site

So far, we have received less than $2000.00 in contributions. If 150 more families contribute just $20.00, we can reach our goal, and the grants we can offer to the school this year will be secured!

Attendance Matters!!! Attendance Matters!!!

Attendance

To clear absences, please call 916-971-7972 or email miralomaabsence@sanjuan.edu.

When reporting absences/tardies, it is important to include your child's six-digit student ID number along with their first and last name. This will help ensure accurate identification. Parents must clear absences within 5 school days. Absences not cleared within 5 school days will be recorded as a Cut.

You can clear full day absences through the parent portal.

Excused tardies such as verified medical appointments, late bus, SARB, DMV (must provide a receipt) or illness are excusable reasons for tardies. Please bring in a verification note if possible.

Early Dismissals Early Dismissals

To request an early dismissal, please call 916-971-7459

Parent/Guardians must contact the Attendance Office at least 30 minutes prior to an early dismissal. Failure to do so may result in a long wait time. Dismissal slips are not sent to classrooms 30 minutes prior to the end of the school day. Early dismissals are not accepted via email or Parent Portal. Parent portal is for clearing full day absences.
