Principal Message
Dear WCS Families,
It is safe to say that we have officially had our first taste of summer temperatures this week! Typical of New England weather, we were close to 90 degrees one day and in the 60s the next.
Last Friday night, we held our second-ever WCS School Dance. While it may have been exhausting for the adults, I think the kids could have danced and eaten all night long! It was wonderful watching our students have so much fun interacting with their peers. They loved the music the DJ played and even managed to sneak in some of their own song requests. We captured several great photos throughout the evening, which are shared in the newsletter below. Although I tried to photograph as many students as possible at the backdrop, not everyone was interested in having their picture taken.
Yesterday, we officially completed our NH SAS testing with the Grade 5 Science Assessment. The students are excited to have finished testing and are eagerly waiting to deposit their tickets into the prize bins! As a reminder, parents can access assessment scores through the Parent Portal. We will not be printing or sending home NH SAS results. The final assessment of the year will be the STAR assessment, and those results will be printed and sent home at the end of the school year.
A special shout-out goes to our Orchestra and Band students for their performances this week. These students are incredibly talented and always put on a wonderful show.
Next week, our Grade 5 students will perform School House Rock at Windham High School. This performance will also mark Mrs. Fothergill’s final production before retiring from the Windham School District. We thank her for her years of dedication and wish her all the best in retirement. Thank you as well to Mrs. Iarrobino for all of her hard work preparing and tie-dyeing the shirts for the Grade 5 performance.
Permission slips for the Grade 6 Canobie Lake Park trip went home this week. Please read all details carefully, as the information is important to ensure students are able to attend the trip.
Please remember that there will be no school on Monday as we observe Memorial Day and honor all those who have served our country.
Have a wonderful weekend!
Sincerely,
B.J. Martin

WHS LAST NIGHT CLASS OF 2026
Dear Parents/Guardians & WCS Students,
As the warmer weather arrives, we’d like to remind all students and families about the Windham School District dress code. All tops, midsections, and bottoms must be appropriately covered at all times.
If a student is not dressed according to the dress code, they will be asked to call home. If a parent or guardian is unable to bring appropriate clothing to school, the student will be asked to select an item from the clothing bin available in the nurse’s office.
Thank you for your cooperation and support in helping us maintain a respectful and appropriate learning environment.
Mrs. Martin
Registration for the Windham School District Summer Camps
Registration for the Windham School District summer camps is now open! Visit the website today for more information. These camp programs will be available for all students for five weeks this summer. Students can try something new, plan with a friend, make new friends, and enjoy their summer adventures at any of our camps. If you have any questions, please contact Karen Tenhagen at WSD_SummerCamps@windhamsd.org.
Registration closes on June 5th!
Center School Field Day
The Center School Field Day is Monday June 8th (with a rain date of June 9th).
We are in need of parent volunteers for the Center School Field Day Monday June 8th (rain date Tuesday June 9th) to have a successful day. We have had great responses in the past, and hope this year will be the same.
Volunteers (with a staff member and possibly another parent) will lead a 30 minute station.
Assistance may also be provided from another teacher or staff member (who will rotate to that activity with their class). Directions/rules will be provided. Some stations are outside, some are inside, and activities range from "Name that Tune" to "Scooter Board Hockey" to Capture the Football”, so please bring sneakers and be ready for some fun!
If you are available to help for the entire school day from 7:45am-2:00pm please use the link below to register to volunteer.
Both the Vector Training (annually from the prior completion date) & the fingerprinting/background check must be completed/up-to-date to volunteer.
WCS Field Day Parent Volunteer Form
-We will confirm volunteers (as long as there is a cleared background on file with the district and the Vector training is complete), and more details will be emailed to you between a week prior to the event.
If you have not been cleared to volunteer with the district yet, please go to https://www.windhamsd.org/resources/parents/volunteer_information for instructions (the turn around time takes 3-4 weeks for fingerprints and background checks).
Please email with any questions.
