Volunteers Needed

The 8th Grade Dance is almost here and we need your help!

Traditionally, we ask 6th-grade and 7th-grade parents to help chaperone and assist behind the scenes so that the 8th graders can enjoy their special night without their own parents watching from the sidelines. We need volunteers to help with check-in, chaperoning during the dance, serving food, and check-out. Please click HERE to sign up.

Your support will ensure that this event runs smoothly while also giving you a sneak peek at what’s in store for next year! Thank you in advance for making this a memorable night for our soon-to-be graduates!

Inclusive School Day! Inclusive School Day!

Thank you!

This week, we’re excited to recognize a special event that truly reflects the heart of our school community—Inclusive School Day! Organized by our incredible Peers Connection students, this day was all about celebrating connection, kindness, and belonging.

From thoughtful activities to inspiring conversations, our Peers Connection leaders created meaningful opportunities for students to connect across differences and build a more inclusive school culture. Their leadership reminds us that when we lead with empathy and intention, everyone has a place to shine.

A special thank you to Mr. Bandy and Mrs. Anders-Aleman for their guidance, support, and commitment to helping our students lead with purpose. Their work behind the scenes made this day not only possible, but powerful.

We’re so proud of the way our students—and staff—continue to foster a welcoming and supportive environment for all. Thank you for being a part of this journey with us.

Culturally Responsive Teaching! Culturally Responsive Teaching!

Lions Leading...

We’re excited to highlight the innovative and culturally responsive teaching happening in Mrs. Haendel’s classroom! Recently, students were given the autonomy to design their own history assignments—choosing topics that sparked their curiosity and connected with their own interests.

From exploring the history of In-N-Out Burgers to the evolution of football equipment, students dove into unique and meaningful projects that made history come alive. This approach not only engaged our learners deeply but also honored their voices and perspectives.

We’re proud of Mrs. Haendel for fostering a learning environment where students feel empowered to explore history in ways that resonate with them—and of our students for their creativity and enthusiasm!

Lions in Action!

We’re proud to celebrate the outstanding achievements of our Lincoln athletes this season!

Our Girls Soccer Team had a phenomenal run, defeating our crosstown friends at JAMS last Thursday to advance to the championship game. They played with heart, teamwork, and determination, ultimately finishing as 2nd place finalists. Their effort on and off the field truly made our Lincoln community proud!

Our Co-Ed Volleyball Team also had an incredible season, capturing the Ocean League title with strong performances and excellent team chemistry. They advanced to the second round of the playoffs, where they battled hard before coming up short—but not without showing the grit and pride that defines Lincoln athletics.

A big congratulations to both teams for their commitment, sportsmanship, and success. And a heartfelt thank you to their coaches for the guidance and encouragement they provided throughout the season.

Exciting Events for 8th Graders This Semester!

With a less than 2 weeks left of school, we wanted to share some upcoming events that our 8th graders will enjoy during this final semester. We’ll be sending more detailed information soon including graduation requirements, yearbook deadlines, and other important updates before spring break.

8th Grade Dance – Friday, June 6th

The 8th grade dance, organized by parent volunteers, is sure to be a fun evening. We’ll need many 8th grade parents to help before and after the event with transforming the cafeteria and making it a memorable night for our kids.

8th Grade Promotion – Thursday, June 12th

Due to the size of our 8th grade class, the promotion ceremony will be split into two groups based on your child’s core group. Each student will be allowed to bring 3 guests to the ceremony. Support for These Events With that said, these events cost money. While the Lincoln PTSA commits $10,000 as part of the annual budget, your donations and fundraising are crucial to covering the additional $35,000 required for all 8th grade activities. To fund Golf N’ Stuff and buses for transportation as well as ensure that the dance and promotion committees can start planning, we suggest a donation of $175 per student to be made by February 18, 2025; however, any contribution is greatly appreciated. 100% of the donations will go directly toward the 8th grade class activities.

Please click the link below to make your donation today https://lincolnmiddleschoolptsa.org/product/8th-grade-promotion-fund/

Cash and Check Donations accepted. Checks can be written to “Lincoln Middle School PTSA”. Cash donations can be dropped off labeled “8th Grade Activities” to Lincoln front office staff to be given to PTSA. Thanks to all families that have already made their donations! Not sure if you already donated? Contact John Jericiau, LMS PTSA Treasurer at treasurer@lmsptsa.org
