Amy Belle Elementary
Principal's Corner
We are off to a fantastic start this school year! The students have settled into their routines, and it's been wonderful to see so much learning and growth already. We’ve just wrapped up our MAP testing assessment window, and we are proud of all our students for their hard work and dedication. Looking ahead, we’re excited to continue partnering with you as we prepare for our upcoming parent-teacher conferences. Those will take place on the nights of Oct. 17th and 22nd. An email will be sent out next week letting you know when you can sign up for a conference time on Skyward. These meetings are a great opportunity to discuss your child’s progress, celebrate their successes, and set goals for the rest of the year. Thank you for your ongoing support—together, we’re making this a great year!
Counselor's Corner
Hello Amy Belle Families!
It has been an exciting start to a new school year! Part of my role as the school counselor at Amy Belle is to teach 30-minute Guidance lessons every other week in the classroom. We will be using the Second Step Program in your child’s classroom (K-4) to teach the following critical skills.
Skills for Learning: Students gain skills and practice to help themselves learn, including how to focus their attention, listen carefully, use self-talk to stay on task, and be assertive when asking for help.
Empathy: Students learn to identify and understand their own and other’s feelings. Students also learn to take another’s perspective and show compassion.
Emotion Management: Students learn specific skills for calming down when experiencing strong feelings such as anxiety or anger.
Problem Solving: students learn a process for solving problems with others in a positive way.
