Welcome to the BHS Express
A newsletter keeping you informed about Batavia High School
Hello Bulldog Families.
It’s certainly been an interesting final week of the semester as the snow days caused a little interruption for our BHS students! While I’m sure the students enjoyed the extra long weekend, it is my hope that everyone stayed safe in the cold temperatures and were able to make sure all school work is in a good place before leaving for break.
Our week was full of celebrations as students and staff participated in various holiday-themed activities and had a chance to pet some therapy dogs! These loving pets added an extra sense of calm as we rounded out our first semester.
When BHS students return to school on January 5, 2026, this will be the first day of the second semester. Students will be able to pick up new schedules on their way to classes and will have until the end of the first week to make schedule changes, which is Friday, January 9, 2026. Many students have schedules that will not change, but we will have new copies for all students in case there are any elective switches.
If you are a family member of a senior and your student plans to attend college in the fall, please make sure they’ve completed the FAFSA. This is an important application for your student to receive grants, scholarships and student loans.
We hope you and all of our BHS family have a safe winter break. We will see everyone back in school on Monday, January 5, 2026.
In service to our Bulldogs.

Hello, Families,
We made it to winter break. The past week has been a roller coaster of weather from the snow, to cold, to warmer temps, and then back again. I wonder what the next couple of weeks looks like?
Please tell your student drivers to email me if there is ever an issue with their parking spot due to the weather. We will work it out if their parking spot is covered with snow.
Lastly, I hope everyone has a safe winter break.
Joe Moorehead, Dean of Students

The FAFSA Application is Open!!!!
The Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) for students entering or attending college for the 2026-27 academic year is up and running! Any student that is thinking about attending any type of education/training after high school should complete the FAFSA - technical school, trade school, community college, public university, or private university. The FAFSA is what determines your eligibility for student loans, grants, work-study, and scholarships - thus, it is VERY important that you complete and submit it. Keep in mind, all students are eligible for student loans! We will continue to share information and helpful resources with you and your family as we receive it!
The Ohio Department of Higher Education would like to share that the 2026-27 Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) is available for all families to complete. Families who want to start filling out the FAFSA now can start the process at studentaid.gov.
For additional assistance with FAFSA completion, please visit itsforyou.org, and look under the “Looking for FAFSA Help?” section for more information
