Hello Students and Families!

I hope you all felt the positivity and kindness this morning! Our Kind Kids Crew enjoyed greeting students and families this morning! The energy was contagious! It was such a great way to start off the day! This is just another example of how our Patterson students are Champions! They care deeply for others and know how to set the tone for learning for the school day!

We are excited to welcome our Veterans and their families to our Veteran's Day Assembly on Monday, November 11th. If you have RSVP'd that you are attending with a veteran, please check in at the front office at 9:15am and have your id ready to be scanned. LMC News!

WOW!!! What a “fantabulous” visit by NY Times bestselling author Chris Grabenstein! Not only has he written over 50 books but he also wrote commercials, wrote for the Muppets, and created a Christmas classic with John Denver! Laughter and learning was had by all. We all felt privileged to see such an honored author at Patterson! Thank you to Anderson's Bookshop!

Next up on the Author Visit train is...Stef Wade! She will be visiting our K-2 graders talking about her book The Last Leaf. Leaves, Trees & Facing Your Fears. An unbe-leaf-able presentation on the life process of a leaf. Forms were sent home with your students to purchase a book from Stef Wade and have it autographed. (Please note that we do not receive any profit on the books we sell-only to provide a way to get an autographed copy!)

TECH NEWS:

  • Students in Grades 2-5 all have Chromebooks that will travel to and from school daily. Grades K-1 will keep their Chromebooks at school in a charging cart in the classroom to use throughout the day.
  • Please keep all chargers at home, do not send them to school. Students are responsible for charging their Chromebooks at home for the school day. We do not have the capability to charge Chromebooks during the day for students. Thank you for helping students be successful here at school!
  • Students take home Chromebooks every night for charging to be ready for the next day of learning at school. Each grade level has different expectations on homework or practice at night on Chromebooks. Please contact your child's teacher for more information on what is required.
  • Just a reminder that Chromebooks are for schoolwork only. Students are allowed to access their dashboard (SSO) that has multiple items for them to use. Other sites allowed are Mrs. Maly's LMC page with activites or their teacher's Google Classroom which may have items for them to access.
  • For information regarding District 204 Student Data Privacy please click here.
  • For more information regarding SOPPA (Student Online Personal Protection Act) and how it is applied in District 204 please click this link.

Veteran's Day Assembly to Celebrate our Heroes!

On Monday, November 11, 2024, Patterson Elementary School will honor those who have served or are serving in the Armed Forces by hosting a very special Veteran’s Day celebration led by the Chorus. An All-School Student Assembly will be held in the gym at 9:30 a.m.

Our staff and students are very excited to honor all of our veterans. Veterans and families that have RSVP'd to attend our celebration as a Guest of Honor should check in at the front office at 9:15 a.m. Please be sure to bring your id to be scanned to receive a visitor's pass. You will then be walked to the gym for the assembly. All of the veterans will be recognized for their service to our country during the program. If possible, they should wear a symbol of their branch of service (uniform, hat, ribbons, or medals). There will be a small reception immediately following the assembly.

If you have any questions, please reach out to Kari Rothmeyer, music/chorus teacher and Michelle Hebenstreit, Principal.

Fall Parent Teacher Conferences

Parent Teacher Conferences will be held in person at Patterson on Thursday, November 21st from 4:30pm-8:00pm and Monday, November 25th from 8:00am-3:00pm and 4:30pm-8:00pm. This is a great opportunity to connect with your child's teacher to learn about your child's strengths as a learner, opportunities for growth, as well as to ask any questions you may have. We are encouraging ALL families or guardians to attend parent teacher conferences.

Sign Up for Parent Teacher Conferences will open in ParentVue on Wednesday November 13th and will remain open until November 19th at 6:30pm. To schedule your conference, log into ParentVue and select "Conference" from the menu on the left side to see available times. Once you have scheduled your time, you can click "Email Schedule" to have the details emailed to you.

Parents should only schedule a conference with their child's homeroom teacher. If your child has a different math teacher, that teacher will share an update with the homeroom teacher for the conference.

Mrs. LaCoursiere will send out a separate sign up for Project Arrow parent teacher conferences. This will be sent out on November 13th as well.

PE Cup Stacking Event

On Tuesday, November 12th, Patterson P.E. classes will be participating with kids around the world in trying to set the most cup stackers on the same day by setting the World Sport Stacking Association world record! Last year they set it with 746,000 and this year they are attempting to break the 775,000 mark! Students of all grade levels that have regularly scheduled P.E. class on Tuesday will be participating and engaged in several different stacking activities. Cup stacking is a great activity for hand eye coordination, focus, and using both sides of our body. Patterson is excited to be a part of this worldwide event!

Arrival and Dismissal Procedures

The safety of our Patterson students, staff, and families is an upmost priority to our team. During meet and greet, each teacher will have a form for parents/guardians to notify your child's teacher and our office team how your child will be dismissed each day. Please make sure to complete this form when visiting your child's classroom.

Staff will be present at all entrances being used for arrival and dismissal to supervise students.

New this year:

  • On the first day of school, your child will receive a backpack tag that is color coded by bus, car rider, walker, biker, or YMCA. Pleaase leave this tag on your child's backpack for the duration of the school year.
  • Door 11 will be used for the dismissal of Kindergarten students only. Siblings that wish to "pick up" their kindergarten sibling will meet them outside Door 11.

Arrival Procedures:

  • Students may enter the building through Doors 1,2,11 or by the back rike in the back of school at Door 9 and should NOT arrive before 8:50am or 9:05am on late start day.
  • Car Riders will pull into the front circle drive. Please remember there are no cell phones while driving on school property. Please do not let your child leave the car until you see a staff member outside.
  • Big Bus Riders will be dropped off at the bus pad and a staff member will walk the students inside the building through door 2.
  • Small bus riders will be dropped off in the side lot and will be met by a staff member and walked inside.

Dismissal Procedures:

  • Dismissal will begin at 3:35pm.
  • Kindergarten walkers or car riders will exit the building through Door 11 and will be escorted by a staff member. Students will not be released unless they see an older sibling or parent.
  • All other students will be dismissed from Door 1, 2, or out Door 9 by the bike rack.
  • Car Riders will all have car numbers which you will receive at Meet and Greet or the first day of school. Please have your car number visible in your window. Car Riders will use the front circle drive. Students will be dismissed to the gym where they will watch for the car number to appear on the screen. Students will exit through Door 1 or 2. Parents/Guardians, please be respectful and patient of staff directing the carline.
  • Big bus riders will be dismissed to the gym and will be walked by a staff member to the bus pad out through the gym door.
  • Small bus riders will be dimissed through the gym door, Door 4, in the side lot and will be escorted by a staff member to the bus.

***VERY IMPORTANT: If your child is a car rider, please do NOT exit your car in the carline. Students need to be able to open the car door and get in their car independently. Thank you for staying in your car to help move the carline along quickly.
