September 30, 2026 - NEWSLETTER
Panther Families,
It was a fun Homecoming Week across the high school! Our Senior Girls retained their Powderpuff Championship over the Junior Girls. Wow, we have some really fast girls. Girls Flag Football has also really developed the overall level of play in Powderpuff, which made for an exciting game.
The Homecoming football game was full of Panther pride, and it was fun to watch Panther Nation celebrate a win. There are some beautiful pictures of the crowd of students. I also want to take a moment to acknowledge our football players who wore pink in honor of those impacted by cancer and as a part of our Tackle Cancer efforts.
We hosted our Homecoming Dance to end the week on Saturday. It was a great evening filled with music, dancing, and fun for our students. It’s always enjoyable to see students connect with friends, celebrate, and create memories that can last well beyond high school.
Fall Conferences are coming up. We look forward to connecting with families about how your student is doing and how we can continue to support their success.
- Wednesday, October 14: 8 -10 a.m. - Drop-in conferences | 10 – 11 a.m. Scheduled conferences
- Thursday, October 22: 4 – 7 p.m. – Drop-in conferences | 7 – 8 p.m. Scheduled conferences
See the Upcoming Events section below for the information to sign up if you prefer a scheduled conference.
In today’s newsletter, there also is some background on the school funding question every Minnesotan will see on their ballot this fall. The question asks Minnesotans to vote on changes in how money in the Permanent School Fund is distributed. If approved, the change would provide additional funding to public school districts, including ours. It would not increase taxes. Please take a moment to learn more.
Finally – remember that next week is a short week for our students. There is no school for students on Thursday, October 8 or Friday, October 9. Our staff will be participating in professional learning on these two days and preparing for conferences.
Proud to be a Panther,
Megan Jahnke
Principal

Statewide School Funding on the Ballot This Fall; No New Taxes
Minnesota voters will decide this fall whether to change how money from the state’s Permanent School Fund is distributed to public schools. If approved, the change would provide additional funding to public school districts, including Spring Lake Park Schools. It would not increase taxes.
The proposed amendment would change how the annual distribution from the fund is calculated. If the amendment passes, Spring Lake Park Schools is expected to receive about $33 more per student, or approximately $200,000. Leaving the question blank has the same effect as voting No. Learn more about the Permanent School Fund ballot question.
