Random Acts of Kindness Challenge
October is Bullying Prevention Month, and Student Services is excited to bring back the Random Acts of Kindness Challenge! This is a wonderful opportunity to encourage acts of kindness throughout our school and to strengthen our sense of community. Our goal is to help make our Viking CommUNITY shine brighter with thoughtful and caring actions, showing students what it truly means to be a Viking.
Here’s how it works:
- Staff will recognize students as they demonstrate acts of kindness throughout the school. When you witness a student performing a kind act—whether it's helping a peer, offering support, or showing respect—please give them a raffle ticket.
- Students will write their names on the raffle ticket and turn it into the boxes located by the principal’s waiting area (across the intervention’s office) for a chance to win prizes.
- The challenge will run from 10/6 through 10/31.
In addition to the challenge, we would love for everyone to participate in wearing orange on October 22nd for UNITY Day. Thank you for your participation and for continuing to help make our school a welcoming and positive commUNITY. For questions about this initiative, please reach out to Ms. Openchowski or Ms. Cummins in the Student Services Department.

Lockdown Drill Thursday 10/16/25
On Thursday, October 16, we will hold our scheduled lockdown drill. Students and staff will practice the RUN-HIDE-SURVIVE protocol, and families may notice increased police presence on campus during the drill. In order to minimize the disruption to instructional time, we will utilize an Activity Period bell schedule on Thursday, October 16th. Parents or guardians who have concerns or questions about the drills or their student’s participation should contact Assistant Principal Kevin Farrell at (847) 755-2616 or kfarrell@d211.org.
Special Spaces 11/15/25
We’ve Got Your Back, Tommy! Let’s Make a Dream Room for an Incredible Kid
Meet Tommy — an energetic, kind-hearted 8-year-old and future District 211 student who’s showing the world what true bravery looks like as he takes on brain cancer with courage and a big smile.
On November 15, students from Fremd High School are teaming up to do something special:
We're creating the bedroom of Tommy’s dreams — a space full of comfort, creativity, and joy. A room that reflects his spirit and gives him a place to just be a kid.
Our goal is to raise $5,000 to bring this room to life — every dollar goes directly toward furniture, decorations, and all the touches that will make Tommy’s space truly magical.
With your support, and the passion of Fremd’s amazing student volunteers, we’re showing Tommy and his family that they are not alone. Their community is behind them — with heart, hope, and helping hands.
