April 2025
Principles Points
April has arrived in full bloom, bringing sunshine, fresh air, and plenty of smiles! It’s been wonderful to watch our students soaking up the beautiful weather and enjoying time outdoors—their enthusiasm is contagious and adds such a positive spark to each day.
As the month continues, we’re preparing for MAP testing, which will begin during the last week of April. This time of year also brings several exciting field trips, making our days both busy and rewarding. While the end of the school year always seems to pick up speed, it’s exciting to see all the hard work and planning come together.
Our focus this month is on the character trait of inclusiveness. Being inclusive means welcoming others, valuing differences, and creating a space where everyone feels respected and supported. It’s about making sure each person feels like they belong. Just as important, inclusiveness extends to how we treat ourselves. Offer yourself the same kindness and understanding you would give to a friend. Replace negative self-talk with encouragement, and take time to appreciate your own efforts and growth. If it’s not something you would say to someone you care about, it’s not something you should say to yourself.
Let’s make April a time filled with kindness, connection, and a strong sense of community 💙

Advice From Nurse Sandy
SPRING COLD SYMPTOMS
Spring cold symptoms can often overlap with allergies, making it difficult to distinguish between the two. Here are some common symptoms of a spring cold:
Upper Respiratory Symptoms: runny or stuffy nose, sneezing, sore throat, and cough.
Other Symptoms: Body aches, Fatigue, Headache, and Low-grade fever (rarely).
Additional Considerations:
Onset:
Cold symptoms typically develop gradually over a few days, while allergies may appear more suddenly upon exposure to triggers like pollen.
Discharge:
Cold mucus is usually thick and green or yellow, while allergic discharge is clear and watery.
Allergy History:
Individuals with a history of allergies are more likely to experience allergic reactions in the spring.
Contagiousness:
Colds are caused by viruses and are contagious, while allergies are not.
If you experience these symptoms, it's important to consult a healthcare professional to determine the underlying cause and receive appropriate treatment.

MAP Testing
The Missouri Assessment Program (MAP) testing for students at Lonedell R-14 School District will take place during April and early May. MAP tests are mandated by the state, and are intended to help determine what a child knows and is able to do according to the expectations for his or her grade level. Scores on the MAP tests are also used to determine how schools are performing according to state and federal guidelines.
Please check the attachments for more information and exact dates and times for your student/s.
What can you do to help you student/s succeed on these tests?

Our Fine Arts Fair was a wonderful celebration of creativity and talent across all grade levels! The halls were filled with incredible artwork from every student, showcasing their imagination and hard work. Families and staff also enjoyed a series of lively performances throughout the event. Our youngest learners in PreK, Kindergarten, and 1st grade delighted the audience with their songs, followed by strong performances from our 2nd and 3rd graders and our 4th and 5th grade groups. A special highlight included our 4th graders demonstrating their skills on the recorder, while our 5th graders brought energy and rhythm with an exciting percussion piece.
