UIL permission slips for try-outs are due Tuesday, October 10th.

Events include:

2nd grade - English and Spanish Storytelling, Chess Puzzles and Creative Writing

3rd grade - English and Spanish Storytelling, Chess Puzzles and Ready Writing

4th grade - Oral Reading, Chess Puzzles, Ready Writing and Number Sense

5th grade - Oral Reading, Chess Puzzles, Ready Writing and Number Sense

UIL is an academic competition among all elementay campuses in Alvin ISD. If your child would like to participate, they need to turn in the form that was sent home Tuesday, September 26th, or you can access the form here. Each event will practice 1 day a week before school at 7:15 leading up to the competition on January 26-27 at Manvel High School. The practice schedule will be shared after permission slips are turned in. Each event will practice a few weeks then conduct try-outs to determine team placement.

Each week grade levels will select 1 student who has demonstrated trustworthiness, respect, responsibility, fairness, caring, and citizenship. Congratulations to this weeks winners!

Students are earning their tokens and getting to pick a free book from the book vending machine. They earned their books for being responsible and making good choices.

Our entire school will be participating in Hood-Case Reads! You might be wondering what this is! This is a reading program that gives each family and staff member a copy of the same book! This is an opportunity to reinforce reading instruction, increase parental involvement, bridge the home-school connection and build a true community of readers! We are super excited! This week each morning, students will be given one clue to the title of the book. On Monday, October 23rd we will have our Hood-Case Reads Kick off. This is where the title of the book will be announced. That same day, students will bring home their book, calendar, raffle tickets and etc. Stay tuned for more information!

Week Five of crazy 8s will be Monday, October 23rd from 4-5 pm. Remember to bring a small snack to enjoy as you are waiting for the club to start.
