Every Day Counts!
Dear Parents and Families,
Can you believe we are already in Week 5? Our school year is moving quickly, and I want to thank you for your continued support as we work together to make this a successful year for every student!
š Attendance Matters!
As we move through September, I want to take a moment to highlight the importance of school attendance. September is recognized as Attendance Awareness Month, making it the perfect time to remind our families that every day truly counts!
When students are at school, they are learning, building relationships, participating in classroom activities, and staying connected to their teachers and classmates. Even missing a few days can make it difficult for students to keep up with instruction and learning.
We understand that students will occasionally need to be absent due to illness or other circumstances. When your child is absent, please make sure to send a parent note or doctor's note as soon as possible so we can accurately document the absence. Please don't wait until several days later to turn in documentation. Getting the note to us right away helps us keep attendance records accurate and ensures that absences are properly addressed.
Our goal is simple: Get our students to school, on time, and ready to learn each day! ā¤ļø
š Celebrating Hispanic Heritage
We are also excited to celebrate Hispanic Heritage Month on our campus! Throughout the month, we will have opportunities for our students and staff to celebrate the rich cultures, traditions, history, contributions, and accomplishments of Hispanic and Latino communities.
We look forward to seeing our campus come alive with learning and celebrations that help our students appreciate and celebrate the diversity that makes our school community so special!
š« Thank You for Joining Us!
A huge THANK YOU to everyone who came out for our Open House! It was wonderful to see so many of our families on campus and engaged in their child's education.
I was so disappointed that I wasn't able to be there with you. Unfortunately, I was under the weather, but I was thinking about all of you and am so grateful to our staff for making the evening such a success. I can't wait to catch up with everyone at our upcoming Coffee with a Counselor event!
As always, thank you for partnering with us, supporting our teachers, and encouraging your children each day. When families and schools work together, our students thrive!
Here's to another great week of learning, growing, and being present!
Every student. Every day. Every opportunity. š
With appreciation,

š”ļøKeeping Our Falcons Safe: Standard Response Protocol
The safety and security of our students and staff is always a top priority at Kirby STEM Academy. Throughout the year, our students and staff will practice the Standard Response Protocol (SRP) so everyone knows what to do and how to respond during a variety of situations.
Falcon Families, we encourage you to review the attached information so you are familiar with the terminology your student will hear at school, including Hold, Secure, Lockdown, Evacuate, and Shelter, as well as what parents should do during an emergency or safety event.
š Preparation, practice, and clear communication help keep everyone safe. Thank you for being an important partner in our campus safety efforts! š¦ š”ļø
Student/Parent Reunification Information
The safety of our students is always our top priority. In the event of an emergency or situation requiring a controlled student release, our school will use the Standard Reunification Method (SRM) to safely reunite students with their families. Situations such as severe weather, power outages, hazardous conditions, or other emergencies may require students to be released through this process.
Parents and guardians are encouraged to review the attached SRM Parent Handout and become familiar with the reunification process before an emergency occurs. During reunification, families will be asked to bring a valid photo ID, follow school instructions, and be patient as staff work to ensure every student is released safely and accurately. Students will only be released to a parent, guardian, or an approved emergency contact listed in school records.
Taking a few minutes to review this information now can help make a challenging situation smoother and safer for everyone. Please ensure your student's emergency contact information is current throughout the school year.
