🐾 A Note from the Principal 🐾 My Purpose and Passion💙
Dear Booker Families, Staff, and Scholars,
We are rocking and rolling at Booker Elementary! 🎉
Our scholars did an outstanding job on STAAR Reading and STAAR Science this past week! We are especially proud to share that our 4th- and 5th-grade students had 100% attendance, and our 3rd-grade scholars had only 3 absences. That is a huge win for our campus. This level of commitment speaks volumes about the strong partnership between our school and our families. Thank you for showing up and showing out for Booker!
Now, it’s time to finish STRONG 💪. This week, our 3rd–5th grade scholars will take the STAAR Math assessment, and we need your support more than ever. Our students have worked extremely hard over the past several weeks preparing, and we are confident—this is OUR year to show the district and the state that Booker is BACK!
Here’s how you can help us finish strong:
- Ensure your child is at school on Tuesday and Wednesday
- Make sure they arrive on time
- Encourage a positive mindset and great attitude
- Remind them: There is no need to feel anxious—this is simply another opportunity to show what they’ve learned
We also want to extend a heartfelt thank you for your support of Saturday School and tutorials. Our final Saturday session was a success—students had a blast, earned five tickets, a trip to the PBIS store, and a sweet treat! 🍬
Your partnership matters. Because of your support:
- We hosted 16 Saturday School sessions
- Provided 38 after-school tutorials
- Delivered a total of 86 hours of additional academic support
That is commitment. That is teamwork. That is Booker Pride! WE are definitely seeing the results.
As we close out STAAR testing this week, we are already preparing for our End-of-Year (EOY) district assessments next week, including MAP, Circle, and mCLASS. So, PreK - 2nd, let's get ready to SHOW WHAT WE KNOW, TOO! PreK, K, 1st, and 2nd - WE NEED YOU TO PERFORM, too! This is a crucial opportunity for our scholars to demonstrate mastery! It's where schoolwork and effort meet to make a mark and determine whether students are prepared for the next level. This guides academic interventions and enrichment for the upcoming school year.
We are almost at the finish line—and the progress our scholars have made is something to celebrate. Let’s keep the energy high, the expectations strong, and the focus sharp. We can see the light—and together, we will cross that finish line successfully. Booker is getting better, faster! We are striving for Excellence in Culture, Academics, and Results, Every Day!
With pride and appreciation,
Keisha Womack
Proud Principal

Mindset of Mastery – No Mediocre Thinking Allowed
Booker Families,
Please take time to encourage your child and remind them why it is so important not to rush, but instead to do their very best on every test. District and state assessments matter because they help schools make important decisions about the support and opportunities students may need. A child’s performance can help determine whether additional academic support, intervention, summer learning, or enrichment and advanced opportunities may be recommended for the upcoming school year.
Assessments such as STAAR and TELPAS provide valuable information about your child’s academic progress and language development. These results help schools identify strengths, address learning gaps, and plan the right instructional supports to help each child grow. They can also help guide future academic pathways and readiness for more advanced coursework and opportunities.
State assessments and screeners serve as important indicators of student progress and college, career, and military readiness over time. They give schools and families a snapshot of how students are performing and where additional support may be needed to ensure long-term success. That is why we ask every student to slow down, stay focused, and give their best effort on every assessment.
So we need your help more than ever now! For the next fews weeks, we will need you to support and encourage your scholars to:
- Do their BOOKER BEST ON EVERY TEST
BE HERE ON TESTING DAYS
BE ON TIME ON TESTING DAYS
BE READY & LASER FOCUSED!
BE KIND AND RESPECTFUL TO THEIR PEERS & STAFF
BE WILLING TO WORK & LEARN
BE AN ACTIVE LISTENER
BE THEIR BEST SELF
BE AN ADVOCATE FOR THEIR OWN ACADEMIC SUCCESS
BE A PROUD BENGAL!
BE THE ONE THAT MAKES SOMEONE DAY!
STAAR IS HERE! IT STARTS THIS WEEK! LET'S KEEP THE MOMENTUM DONE!
