Dear Hardy Families,

And just like that, it’s February, and time is flying! This month, we’re especially looking forward to celebrating Lunar New Year as a community, and then closing out the month with Literacy Week and our Hardy Book Fair, two of our favorite traditions that build a love of reading across campus. Be sure to check the full list of February dates below so you don’t miss what’s coming up.

Last week, Hardy had an amazing Great Kindness Challenge; our campus was filled with intentional acts of kindness, friendship, and Owl pride. I’m excited to share that we are now officially a Kindness Certified School.

PTA also treated our students to an unforgettable Avian Behavior assembly. They brought birds and taught students about bird biology, adaptations, and habitat conservation during a 45-minute presentation. Highlights included meeting two owls, a Great Horned Owl and a small barn owl, up close and watching their incredible head rotations, seeing a super smart raven sort blocks by color, and watching a bird of prey demonstrate short flights around the stage. The kids were completely captivated. Thank you, PTA, for funding such a meaningful experience.

With Gratitude,

Principal Aragon

Lunch Reminder: No Fast Food Drop-Offs

A quick reminder: we are not able to accept fast food drop-offs or deliveries for students during the school day. It can create distractions and make it difficult for us to maintain a calm, consistent lunchtime experience for all students. Students should bring a healthy, nutritious lunch from home, or they are always welcome to enjoy a healthy, nutritious school lunch. Thank you for partnering with us.

Join Our Team: Now Hiring Noon Duty Positions

Hardy is hiring Noon Duty Supervisors. This is an hourly-paid position supporting student supervision during lunch and recess, helping ensure a safe, positive environment on the playground and in lunch areas. If you enjoy working with kids and being part of a school community, we would love to hear from you. Please contact the front office for information on how to apply.

NO SCHOOL FEBRUARY 26

Our teacher’s union has announced a one-day strike on February 26, 2026 regarding Special Education staffing issues as part of a statewide California Teacher’s Association initiative.

In order to maintain a harmonious learning environment for our students, we will honor the strike and close schools on that day. We apologize for any inconvenience this will cause you, but closing schools will ensure that students are not placed in situations where adequate supervision, instructional continuity, and campus safety cannot be reliably maintained.

Families should begin to find alternative arrangements for their children for February 26th. There will be no classroom instruction, and before/after school programs won’t be operating.

The make-up date for classes will be on March 9, 2026, to ensure students receive the instructional time and services to support their success.
