Notes From the Office
Just a reminder that dismissal changes are difficult, not just for staff, but for the children also. It is extremely helpful for all of us if dismissal plans stay consistent so that we can be sure all students are where they need to be to get home safely.
If you must make a change to your child's dismissal plans, please send a note in with your child. Handwritten dismissal change notes need to be clear and include name, date, teacher, and plan. Attached are sample templates you can print.
If you choose to email, email changes to JOS-Notes@cohassetk12.org AND the classroom teacher with the same information as above by 11:00am, please.
Car pick-ups...it will help us if you put a sign on your passenger side dash with the name(s) of child(ren) you are picking up as well as their teacher. There is a template attached. This will help us expedite the car pick-up line.
When your child will be absent, please call in absences to 781-383-6117, option 1.
The PSO looking for co-chairs that have Prek-first graders to carry on the 6th annual Trunk or Treat tradition! This event is very turn-key and one of the easier PSO events to co-chair (flyers, sign-up genius forms, and marketing communications are all established from prior years.) This year we are looking for co-chairs to transition past event knowledge. Co-chairs can help with recruiting trunk volunteers, communicating with food trucks, help with used “trinket” drive, and day of event coordination.

Resources for Talking to Students About Violence
As we address the recent hoax threats with our families and community, it is often helpful to think about how to talk about these things with our youngest children, whether they have overheard anxious conversations or have their own anxieties about potential threats in the community. Below are some points to emphasize and a document from the National Association of School Psychologists to guide us in supporting our children through these tough conversations, if you choose to have them.
- The grown-ups at school do many things to make sure we are safe at school
- Lock doors
- Do emergency drills
- Supervise children inside and outside
- If you see something, say something
- Follow grown-ups’ directions
Please be a Good Neighbor
When you are driving and parking around the school, please obey traffic laws and street signs. Also remember that if you are driving your child to school, you need to use the car line in the front of the school.

Please pack your child's snack separate from their lunch.
Annual Update of Student Information in ASPEN
We need your help to update important information about your children annually. Please take a few to complete the following tasks if you haven't already:
Please complete the Parent Portal Workflow in Aspen. The workflow is very brief and covers the following areas:
Emergency Contact Information
Do Not Photograph
Handbook Acknowledgment
Information Sharing with the PSO and CEF
Instructions on how to complete the workflow can be found on the CPS website.
A health form came home on pink paper. If you have not yet, please complete the CPS Health Form and return to your child's teacher or by email to kgildea@cohassetk12.org. Please note the school screenings for certain grades each year. Please let one of our school nurses, Kelli Gildea or Sandy Crough, know if you have any questions or concerns.
Completing these steps is required. Your prompt response is greatly appreciated.
Transportation
For information regarding school transportation, please visit the transportation page on the new CPS website. All students must be registered through transportation to ride the bus. However, buses are full at this time and they are placing students on wait lists.
