This Week...
Tiger Families,
We've made it to the final week of October, and there is plenty happening at McCormick!
Between Halloween excitement, Red Ribbon Week, fall activities, and everything that comes with being a middle schooler, our Tigers have an exciting week ahead.
While Halloween gives us an opportunity to have a little fun, Red Ribbon Week gives us an opportunity to focus on something much more important—helping our students make healthy, safe, and positive choices.
Middle school is a time when students begin experiencing greater independence. With that independence comes opportunities to make decisions about friendships, social situations, academics, technology, and their own well-being. Our goal isn't simply to tell students to “make good choices.” We want to help them develop the confidence and skills to actually make those choices when it matters.
Red Ribbon Week: Choose Your Future
Red Ribbon Week reminds our Tigers that being drug-free is about more than saying “no.” It's about saying “yes” to the things they want for their future.
Yes to their goals.
Yes to their health.
Yes to their talents.
Yes to their teams and activities.
Yes to the people who care about them.
Yes to becoming the person they want to be.
One poor decision doesn't have to define a student, but learning to think ahead, recognize consequences, and stand confidently in their choices is an important part of growing up.
Halloween: Keep It Fun & Kind
Of course, we can't end October without a little Halloween fun!
As excitement builds, we encourage our Tigers to enjoy the season while remembering that fun and responsibility can go together.
Tiger Challenge: Be Someone Who Makes Good Choices Easier
This week's challenge isn't only about making a good choice for yourself.
Help someone else make one, too.
Be the friend who says, “That's probably not a good idea.”
Be the person who walks away from drama.
Be the classmate who includes someone.
Be the Tiger who speaks up when something isn't right.
It takes courage to make the right choice when everyone else is going in another direction—and that is the kind of courage worth celebrating.
This Week
* Monday: Community Event "Spooky Science Night" 5:30pm
* Wednesday: Picture Retakes
* Thursday: Tiger Time Bell Schedule/Red Ribbon Assembly
* Thursday: Halloween Dance
* Friday: Student Holiday
As October comes to a close, let's enjoy all the fun this week brings while reminding our Tigers that their choices today help shape their opportunities tomorrow.
Also, see below for important information on our upcoming Ofrenda and Halloween Dance.

Hello, Tiger Families!
We will be celebrating Red Ribbon Week with a series of themed days. However, Red Ribbon Week is more than just a fun time to dress up. It is the largest drug-abuse prevention campaign in the nation. Please take this time to talk with your student about the dangers of drug use and its effects. We will have a substance abuse prevention presentation to end the week on Oct. 29th. Be a hero and stay drug-free!
