It is not hard to hate policies. However, you truly need them when it counts. Correction, you truly need them to be written well. We generally write policies with good intent for how to handle a future event. When met with disagreement & you find the policy is lacking, is when you can improve the language to meet the intent of both parties. Obviously many times disagreements can be resolved over a conversation. But there are times when the policy states the city is prohibited from making side agreements with any member without representation. When this happens & a deadline is in play, agree with the words in the policy, but seek a solution that meets the original intent, especially when who benefits will change with how the policy is applied.

Key Project Updates

  • Draft Compensation & Benefit Plan commmissioned last June/July was received this week. It was anticipated the study would be completed in October, however illness & holidays delayed the release.   • Attractive proposal for Health Insurance renewal has been received; information needed for liability & property insurance has been gathered to seek quotes;
