Willbern Whale Tales
January 2020
Happy New Year!
I encourage you to to make being at school and on time every single day a priority for you children. While we did see some improvement in both attendance and tardiness in the Fall the second semester is characteristically when the most students are absent. I've included a graphic below to help illustrate just why excellent attendance is important for all students.
We will begin our Spring Attendance Challenge the week of January 13th and we are excited to announce that generous volunteers have donated 2 bikes as the incentive!!! Each week a student has perfect attendance (this includes no tardies or early releases) they will put their name in the bike buckets. The winners will be announced in early May. We will also be awarding grade levels each month for the best attendance percentage with an ice cream party! Attendance matters at Willbern!!

A Note From the PTO President
On behalf of the Willbern PTO board I would like to say thank you for the support that was received for our Fall Fundraiser. We had a goal to raise $10,000 and we surpassed that goal! The total raised is right at $15,000! Wow!!
The joint efforts between students, parents and staff with this fundraiser will benefit our students in so many ways. We as a board are formulating a plan for field trips and in school experiences that will benefit each student at Willbern. Those details will be shared as soon as they are finalized.
Our BMX show has been set and we are working to schedule the Magic show as well.
We do still have a few students who have not turned in their money from the fundraiser; please get that turned in as soon as possible. We will be sending out another reminder in the next few days. If your money is not turned in, your student will not be able to attend the Magic show.
Thank you,
Sherry Pausky
