3RD GRADE

ELAR/Social Studies:

  • We are continuing to review for our STAAR test in May. The best thing to do at home is to make sure your child is practicing reading. One of the hardest things for 3rd graders on the STAAR is getting tired towards the end with the Reading test. Practicing reading for extended periods of time will help with their stamina so that they will not be as tired at the end. Thank you for helping us at home with this skill!

Whitney Lamming

ELAR/Estudios Sociales:

Sra Whitney Lamming

In math were are working on perfecting our skills in fractions and place value.

In science we are learning about environments and how changes can affect the population of animals.

Math fact tests are on Fridays.

4TH GRADE

4th Grade Math---We are still spending time connecting previously taught concepts and we are still working with multi-step word problems. We have been reviewing decimals and fractions on a number line and will review comparing fractions and equivalent fractions. I am working hard to ensure that we are filling in gaps and strengthening skills that we already have. PLEASE have your child review multiplication facts. It helps tremendously when doing long division.

4th Grade Science---We are finishing up our unit on ecosystems and food chains/webs. They students have done a really good job this unit. They love talking about and learning about the animals in different biomes. They are even creating large food webs that will be displayed in the classroom.

5th Grade Science---We are gearing up for the STAAR. We are also finishing up our ecosystem and food chain/web unit and will move on to structures and behaviors of organisms. I am excited about the growth some of these students have made throughout this year. 🙂

Thank you for sharing your children with me,

Mrs. Brown 🙂

Brown 🙂

t's great to be back at Meadow for a few weeks!

In Reading/Language class we are carrying on with Mrs. Wesley's plans and working hard to prepare for the STAAR test in May.

In Social Studies this week we have learned about Texas during the Civil War,

As always, please please please keep your child reading every evening. Reading is not just a homework assignment, it is the single biggest thing you can do at home to help your child learn and grow!

Fiona McCormick

We are diving deep into our preparation for STAAR. We are currently working on reviewing the elements of types of narrative texts and how parts of the plot affect one another. We will continue this into next week for a few days and then move on into our review of paired passages. We will be looking at comparing different texts throughout the week.

In Social Studies we are learning about the First World War and the Great Depression.

Some reminders:

  • Please make sure your child is reading at least 20 minutes every night. We have some huge AR goals that I want everyone to meet!! Reading every night is shown to improve their learning in all areas of academics. This is vital to their learning and their success in school!
  • Please make sure your child is here every day! We have lots who have been out for various reasons, but each day is so important to their learning. Each child really cannot afford to miss any school.

Please let me know if you have any questions or concerns!

Thank you!

Mrs. Rasco
