Clarendon Avenue Elementary School
November 6, 2026 Newsletter
Hi Families,
WOW! What an incredible week at Clarendon Avenue Elementary! Our Glow Run Fundraiser was a tremendous success, and I want to begin with a HUGE thank you to our families, students, staff, and PTG for making it happen. Whether you helped organize, volunteered your time, supported your child's fundraising efforts, or cheered our Cougars on, please know how grateful we are. The excitement, energy, dancing, tattoos, inflatable costumes, and BIG smiles made it a day to remember! I also loved being on skates for a full day! (I also loved that I didn't fall...) ;)
Most importantly, thank you for continuing to show up for our school community. Your generosity and willingness to support opportunities for our students make such a difference. Fundraisers like this are about so much more than raising money. They are about creating experiences, building memories, and reminding our children what is possible when a community comes together. We are fortunate to have such a supportive CES family!
This week also gave us another reason to celebrate as we looked at our student data during our professional learning team meetings. We are excited to see that 94% of our students are responding positively to our school wide PBIS Tier 1 strategies. This means that the expectations, relationships, positive reinforcement, and consistent teaching happening throughout our school are making a difference! Every child deserves to feel successful, supported, and valued. We believe in the potential of ALL our Cougars, and we are committed to doing the work necessary to help each one grow.
Finally, as we head into School Psychology Week, we want to recognize and celebrate Mrs. Sadorf for the incredible work she does for our students and families. Her care, expertise, and commitment are an important part of what makes CES special.
As principal, I am continually reminded that a school is only as strong as the community surrounding it. Thank you for trusting us with your children, partnering with us, celebrating with us, and being part of the Clarendon Avenue family. There is so much good happening here, and I am incredibly grateful to be part of it.
On behalf of the staff at Clarendon, we are honored to work with you and your children everyday. We are so glad they—and you—are part of Clarendon!
Go Cougars! 💙💛 🐾

Super Roars!
Check out some of our Super Roar recipients from this week. Students receive a super roar when they have behavior that stands out for them, often a behavior that shows intentional safe, respectful and responsible actions or words. Any staff member that sees something above and beyond or showing great individual growth will be recognized by a Super Roar.

Too Sick for School?
As we enter the cold and flu season, we want to remind everyone of the importance of keeping students home when they are ill and following the recommended 24-hour symptom-free guidelines before returning to school.
Recently, we have noticed an increase in students visiting the health room after returning to school before they have fully recovered, particularly following episodes of vomiting. We understand that it can be challenging to keep children home, especially when they begin to feel better. However, allowing adequate time for recovery is essential to protecting the health of our entire school community.
Please keep the following guidelines in mind:
Vomiting: Students must remain home until they have been vomit-free for at least 24 hours, without the use of medication to suppress symptoms, and are feeling well enough to participate in normal school activities.
Fever: Students must remain home until they have been fever-free for at least 24 hours without the use of fever-reducing medication, such as Tylenol or ibuprofen.
Diarrhea: According to Wisconsin DPI guidelines, diarrhea is defined as three or more unexplained episodes of watery or loose stool within 24 hours or the sudden onset of loose stools. Students experiencing these symptoms should remain home and may return 24 hours after their last episode.
Why does this matter?
Sending children back to school too soon can contribute to the spread of illness throughout classrooms and our school community. Following these guidelines helps:
Reduce the spread of contagious illnesses among students and staff.
Prevent students from becoming ill again or needing to be sent home during the school day.
Protect classmates and staff who may be more vulnerable to illness.
Ensure students are healthy, comfortable, and ready to learn when they return.
Even if your child appears to be feeling better, please honor the full 24-hour symptom-free period before sending them back to school. We ask that families not use medication to mask symptoms in order to send students to school before the recommended timeframe has passed.
We appreciate your partnership and understanding. Keeping students healthy is a shared responsibility, and your cooperation makes a difference in maintaining a safe and healthy learning environment for everyone at Clarendon Avenue.
National School Psychology Awareness Week
November 9 - 13, 2026
My name is Brittany Sadorf and I am the school psychologist at Clarendon. I have had the pleasure of working in the Mukwonago Area School District and working at Clarendon for the last 14 years. My favorite part of being a school psychologist is developing supports and strategies that help children grow—socially, emotionally, and academically. Having the opportunity to celebrate each moment of progress, no matter how small, with students, teachers, and families is truly the most rewarding part of my job..

🌟 Respect Challenge: Respect Starts With Me!
This month, our students took part in a Respect Challenge focused on learning what it means to be respectful at school, at home, and in our community. We talked about how respect is more than simply being nice—it is shown through our words, actions, choices, and how we treat ourselves and others.
Throughout the challenge, students learned about four important areas of respect:
Being a Respectful Student – treating others with kindness, listening, giving space, and handling disagreements appropriately.
Respecting Property – taking care of our belongings, other people's things, and school property.
Respectful Language – using words, tone, and communication that are appropriate and respectful, even when we are upset.
Self-Respect – making safe and responsible choices, setting healthy boundaries, using positive self-talk, and learning from mistakes.
Our Challenge Message:
“Respect starts with me!”

Avoid Hawks Ridge Subdivision to make a U-Turn!
East Veterans Way Traffic: In recent weeks, the Mukwonago Police Department (MPD) and the Mukwonago Area School District have received complaints from residents in the Hawks Ridge subdivision about school district traffic using their private driveways. Mainly, this traffic is departing from Park View Middle School or Clarendon Avenue Elementary, exiting east on Veterans Way, turning left into the condo complex, and proceeding back west.
District families are reminded that those roads are private driveways and should not be used to avoid the no left turns that are currently in place at the exits to both schools. MPD will continue to patrol these areas before and after school to monitor this situation. Don't get a ticket!
Instead, traffic should turn right on Clarendon Avenue and proceed south to turn right on Lincoln Avenue or Oakland Avenue. Please see the graphic below.
If you are able to help with a snack for the student snack shelf
we will accept the donation in the CES Main Office.
A Message from CES Health Room
If your child is missing any required vaccinations or if the school does not have your child’s updated records on file, our health office has likely already attempted to reach out to you via phone, email, or letter.
Please take a moment to double-check your child's records. If you have received a notification from CES, or if you know your child is due for a vaccine or vaccine booster, please connect with your pediatrician or local health clinic as soon as possible. Once completed, please remember to send a copy of the updated immunization record directly to the school health room.
We respect your personal choices and privacy regarding vaccines. If you have not yet gotten your child vaccinated for any reason (even if it is scheduled), please see “step 4” on the attached form Immunization Record. Please fill it out, sign it, and send it back to school so we can update our records. Thank you for your help.
Parent Notification for Minor Health Room Visits
New this year, parents will receive an automatic notification via Infinite Campus Messenger when their child is in the health room at some point during the school day. Parents will not be notified if this is a scheduled medication or treatment.
However, parents will still be called if your child receives a head bump, major injury, is too sick to remain in school, or has an urgent need. For reasons your child may be too sick to remain in school, please check out this Too Sick for School document from the Wisconsin Department of Public Instruction.
As always please contact the CES health room with any questions.
The Cougar Code!
At Clarendon Avenue Elementary, we follow the Cougar Code! This is part of our PBIS system that takes a proactive approach to teaching routines and expectations to children in an aligned and consistent building model.
During the first week of school, all students will learn HOW to show the Cougar Code (which is being respectful, responsible, and safe) in all areas of the school. After week one, we will continue to repeat and practice these expectations until they become habit.
See more about the expectations in the picture provided! Let us know if you have any questions!

Speak Up, Speak Out
MASD is proud to partner with the Wisconsin Department of Justice to use the Speak Up, Speak Out (SUSO) confidential reporting system. SUSO allows students and parents to report weapons, threats of violence, bullying, sexual harassment, threat of suicide, drugs, and any other activity that could potentially endanger students, staff, and property. By using SUSO, students and parents can help keep schools safe, and it’s completely confidential. Students, parents, school staff, or any community members can submit a school safety concern or threat via a website, mobile phone application, or toll-free number. Resource center staff work around-the-clock to respond to tips and to deploy a response locally by communicating directly with school administrators, law enforcement, and counselors. Nationwide, more than half of public middle and high schools now operate a tipline.
Visit the Speak Up, Speak Out website to learn more or to make a tip.
Resources for Homeless Students and Families
The McKinney-Vento Act is a federal law that ensures the right of students to go to school even when they are homeless or don’t have a permanent address. The Act aims to reduce barriers that have prevented many homeless youth from enrolling, attending, and succeeding in school. The Mukwonago Area School District is committed to building and creating a supportive community for all families and students.
Mukwonago Community Bulletin Board
As a service to our community, don't forget that MASD hosts a virtual Community Bulletin Board that is regularly updated with information from organizations providing services or activities. Be sure to bookmark the page and watch Key News for Families all year long for updates!
