Message from Nicole Pease, Principal

Hello DCS Families, I hope you had a wonderful vacation! I sure did. It was hard getting back into the routine of school at the beginning of the week, but we are now well underway. This time of year is so lovely, we are taking advantage of getting outside when we are able. Our mornings now begin outside. After we line up, Deb Quinn is teaching us all how to sign our school song. It is amazing how she breaks the song down into small bits that the students and staff are able to learn quickly! This will be a wonderful part of our spring concert on June 6th.

This time of year also brings the end of year assessments. Grades 3, 4, and 5 will begin the NHSAS testing next week. The following week brings the start MAP testing to all grades as well as AimsWeb benchmarking. Our students grew a great deal from fall to winter, I am excited to see how much they will grow on these assessments. We will send home results as they are available.

May 18th will be the Children and the Arts Festival in Peterborough. Kristen Garland and the 3rd grade students are creating a large raven puppet which all students will add some color too. I hope a couple of strong parents will be willing to carry this beautiful creation throughout the parade. Please let me know. We plan to meet at PES at 11:45am on the 18th.

Enjoy the weekend, Nicole

Summer Learning Registration

Good Afternoon,

It is time to register your child for Summer Learning. Please use the following link to sign your elementary child(dren) up. An early registration will ensure that we have the staff and resources to host a robust summer learning program. A separate email will be sent later in the month to register middle and high school students for Summer Academy.

Explore and Expand (all schools) and Title 1 (for AES, PES, Pierce and GES) will begin on July 9th and run through August 1st. The daily schedule for each program is 9 - 12 Tuesday through Thursday. MS Summer Academy (for all rising 5th graders) begins on July 8th and runs through August 1st. MS Summer Academy is four days a week from 8am - 12:15pm. A more detailed description of summer learning opportunities can be found in the registration form.

Similar to last year, all summer programming is free.

Please reach out with any questions!

Best,

Amy Janoch and Kathie Morrocco
