Message from the Assistant Principal

Dear Parents and Guardians,

Are you ready to have your kids home for the summer??? Because time is flying by fast!!

We are down to 7 days left (the last day we will be letting out early at 1:00). Mrs. Kraus, our amazing math teacher, has pointed out that when we say it is a half day, that is actually not correct. So we will be calling the last day of school an early release day!!! You're welcome Mrs. Kraus 😉

This week we will be celebrating our Spring Fling Week. The dress up days will be as follows:

Merica (America) Monday - Wear Red, White and Blue and/or Dress as a Cowboy/Cowgirl

Thrifty Tuesday - Wear Thrifty/DI Clothes (That is kind of my whole wardrobe 😀)

Twinning is Winning Wednesday - Dress the same as someone

Dream Thursday - Dress to show your dream career/occupation

Last reminder to check your student's grades!! Make sure they are passing their classes and are on track to advance to the next grade. We love your kids, but don't love them enough to want them to repeat a grade. 😜

Device collection is on Thursday!!! Please remind them to gather their laptop, charger and case and have it ready to turn in on Thursday!

Go Pirates!

#2: 😎 Great Moments from the Week #2: 😎 Great Moments from the Week

On Thursday our 8th graders got to participate in Reality Town and well....it was a little bit of reality!! They have been preparing for this event for several weeks. They were each given an occupation, with an allotted salary. They were then sent out into the community to purchase housing, pay their bills, and grocery shop. The conversations that I heard were fantastic. One student said, "I am broke! I just paid all my bills and I still haven't even gone grocery shopping!" If that is not a touch of reality, I don't know what is. I hope your students shared their experiences with you. If not, ask them about it.

A huge shout out to Mrs. Vandever who planned this whole event. She set out to get sponsors, purchase the program, organize all the volunteers and then prepare the students. Also we want to thank the many volunteers that came in to help. It will be exciting to watch our 8th grade students do this every year!

Students were asked to dress up as their given profession!

A great profession!

Thanks Trustee Kent for coming in to help. Always fun to see a school board member involved in our school.
