Please Be Mindful of Allergies During Holiday Celebrations

As we enter the holiday season, many classrooms and grade levels will celebrate with special activities, treats, and events. This is always a joyful time of year, but it’s also important that we keep all students and staff safe by being mindful of allergies and sensitivities. Some of the most common allergens among children include peanuts, tree nuts, milk, eggs, soy, wheat, and certain fruits such as strawberries or kiwi. In addition, we have students and staff with latex allergies, which can be triggered by contact with latex balloons, gloves, or other materials. Even small exposures to these allergens can cause serious reactions for some individuals.

To help keep our celebrations safe and inclusive, please take a few extra precautions. Before sending in food or treats, check with your child’s teacher about classroom-specific allergy information. Whenever possible, choose prepackaged items with clear ingredient labels or consider non-food treats such as stickers, pencils, or small games. Please also avoid bringing latex balloons or other latex materials into the school. Be sure that surfaces and hands are thoroughly washed before and after handling food, and avoid cross-contamination by keeping allergy-safe foods separate from others.

Thank you for helping us create a safe and welcoming environment for all of our people. Your care and attention make a meaningful difference and allow everyone to enjoy the season’s celebrations with peace of mind.

BHS Transition Night on November 18th

BHS Class of 2030! Join the Barrington Council for Gifted and Talented (BCGT) for a panel discussion with current high school students about AP and honors courses. The panelists will share their experiences and offer guidance to current extended middle school students on navigating their schedules and classes at Barrington High School. Both students and parents are encouraged to attend.

Bring It!

Your outgrown spiritwear, that is. To school. No extra trip to the resale shop required!

The PTO has placed boxes inside the main and student activities entrances to collect your too-small or rarely worn spiritwear. They are hoping to pass along items your kids have outgrown to others who can give them a second life.

The plan is for the boxes to be there throughout the year, so send 'em in!

Hit the slopes with Ski Club!

The Barrington Park District, organizes a variety of ski trips for grades 6 – 8. Whether you’re a black-diamond skier or just learning how to walk in those crazy boots, this is your opportunity to hit the slopes with your friends from middle school. Buses will take skiers to the slopes at various locations all around our area. Trips are held on Friday evenings from January 9 to February 13 (the trip on February 13 is an all-day trip). The Middle School Ski Club gives you a great way to learn a new and rewarding sport and make tons of new friends, too. This club is offered by the Barrington Park District. If you have questions, please contact them.

Register here for the mandatory parent/student information meetings held on November 13 and November 18. These meetings are held in person at the Barrington Park District. Registration is required for the meeting.
