The Texas Education Agency evaluates public schools and districts under state accountability requirements. These ratings are based on standardized assessments administered on a single day. While these tests aim to measure student learning, they represent only a snapshot of the rich educational experiences that unfold when dedicated teachers and motivated students collaborate to learn, discover, and achieve together.

“In Prosper, we are committed to providing all students with the opportunity to excel in and out of the classroom and discover their passions, whether that be in leadership, athletics, the arts, or service," said Superintendent Dr. Holly Ferguson. "Prosper ISD prepares our students to soar to their highest levels of personal growth and achievement."

While much of their work happens behind the scenes, our Board of Trustees is the heartbeat of our district’s success. January is School Board Recognition Month, making it the perfect time to pull back the curtain on the work the School Board does for Prosper ISD. These seven individuals are deeply invested in our schools, volunteering their time to ensure we provide excellence, every day, in every way.

Keeping Students at the Center

Our School Board sets the tone for everything we do in our district, and their goal is simple but powerful: create a safe, supportive environment where academic excellence is the standard and every student has a path to success. From approving the annual budget to making sure we hire and keep the best educators for our students, their leadership ensures that the district stays focused on what matters most—growing our people at every level.

Commitment Beyond the Meeting Room

Being a Trustee is a huge time commitment that often goes unseen. Each member pledges to attend Board meetings and complete 100% of their required continuing education training hours. They also dive into the details by serving on sub-committees, ensuring that every district policy and financial decision is reviewed thoroughly before it ever reaches a vote.

Staying Present in Our Community

You’ll see our Board members at more than just the Board Room stage. They frequent our campuses and are committed to attend at least five student activities a year and engage directly with families through listening circles or Prosper Promise meetings. By staying connected to our students, staff, parents and community, they can better advocate for our needs and champion the traditions that make Prosper ISD feel like home.

Thank you to our Prosper ISD Board of Trustees:

Bill Beavers – Board President
Dena Dixon – Board Vice President
Tommy Van Wolfe – Board Secretary
Jorden Dial – Board Member
Kelly Cavender – Board Member
Garrett Linker – Board Member
David Webb – Board Member

School Board Recognition Month is a great reminder of the dedication, time and responsibility required to serve as a Board member. Parents and community members can support this work by staying informed, attending Board meetings when possible, and recognizing Board members for their service throughout the year. That involvement helps strengthen the connection between our schools and Prosper ISD community.
