Staff Shoutouts

Can not thank everyone for all that they do but I want to take time for a few shoutouts!

  • Grant Gabel & Sean Wickham - Thank you for all your guidance and coaching efforts throughout the boys basketball season. There was growth from practice one to the end of the season. Thank you for all your time and dedication.

  • Morgan Segner - Thank you for all your dedication with our school and our FFA program! Last week was National FFA week and it was a great time for all of our students! Thank you for making it an all school involvement!

  • Sara Jensen - Thank you for your leadership with our FBLA program and all the work that went into the valentines for our PK-12 students. There was a lot of time behind the scenes and we appreciate all you do!

PRE-SCHOOL REGISTRATION

Reminder that on Tuesday, PK registration opens up!

  • All registrations go through the elementary office so Mrs. Schultz can keep track of numbers.

  • Students are not allowed to start until we have their state certified birth certificate (not hospital) and immunizations on file or proof that they have ordered the birth certificate. We will hold the spot with the completed registration form, but if we have not received this prior to the start of school, but your spot may be given away if not completed.

  • We have 20 spots available in each class and when we are full they go on to the wait list.

A new addition that will be going up in our activities hallway!

Terry Fusco’s family dedicated a memorial in his honor to Shelby-Rising City Public Schools in the form of a Husky. This is a very generous act that will serve as a focal point as students, staff and community members enter our facilities. Terry began his career in education at Shelby schools as a K-12 PE teacher, 9-12 Physical Science teacher, Drivers Ed instructor, football, basketball and track coach, Activities Director, and Elementary Principal, retiring in 2004. He then took a job as Administrative Consultant of Reading First for the State of Nebraska. He was a dedicated man and as his wife, Marie said, “You could find him in two spots; either at home or at the school because he loved being at the school helping whoever and however, he could.” Thank you to the Fusco family!

Mrs. Thompson takes the time to read to all of our students during the lunch periods as this not only helps with the love of books but allows our students to eat quietly while consuming their plates! Thanks Mrs. Thompson!

Message from Mr. Tejkl

"Good found within all failures..."

Good morning!

I hope everyone is having a great weekend and that your Sunday is off to a great start! I am starting mine heading to Columbus for a little wrestling with my older two! I am grateful for our great communities and all of our parents/coaches who take the time out of their day to give back to our youth. If we are looking to grow in activities, it will take all of us to continue to come together and provide for our youth. There are many ways to get involved (outside of just sports) at our school or within our communities so let us know if interested!

With that, it ties into this week quote and it is patience and finding the good. We are closing out what can seem like the longest, shortest month of the year because of weather and lack of sunshine. This year, not too bad but as we came to close out the month, it seemed like we were on pins and needles with fuses a little shorter than usual or being a little more rowdier than before. It is part of it and we thrive for wanting to get outside and hang out with others.

As we move through the next few months and into the future, we are in the unfortunate time where we are going to lose a few people we care about (whether that is love ones, staff moving on to bigger opportunities, etc.). It is also a time where we self-reflect and sometimes it seems like we are falling short in who we are or what we do. It is part of life and we are here to support whenever that may happen.

During those times, it is important to trust the process, being patient with how things come out and finding the good within those bad/dark times. It may not make sense at the moment but over time, it will reveal why things happen for the reasons that could be beyond us at the time. Although we want rainbows and butterflies in everyone's lives, we know that it isn't like that everyday. Through those times, we need to reach out to others, seek knowledge of ourselves and know that everything happens for a reason.

Find the good and trust that you are on a path that will continue to push you to becoming your best version. Be your best for your family, for your career, for your future and for yourself! Be patient and keep moving forward!

Quote of the week to reflect on:

"There is something good in all seeming failures. You are not to see that now. Time will reveal it Be patient."

Swami Sivananda

Sincerely,

Tucker Tejkl

THANK YOU AND CONGRATULATIONS

Congratulations to our change war winners: 2B and Trofholz. Including community donations, we have raised over $4000 to get books into our classrooms, library, and the hands of our students.

Thank you for your overwhelming support! We had multiple business and people contribute to our cause!

With the new CDC guidelines, we will be following what is recommended when it comes to positive cases.

Positive case by test or symptoms --- out for 5 days & can come back to school on day 6 - a mask is required until day 10.

Close contact --- continue to look for symptoms, mask recommended but not required; no quarantine required.

Thank you for your flexibility with this evolving situation. We continue to put the safety of our students and staff as our #1 priority. If you have any questions, comments or concerns; please contact Mr. Tejkl on his office phone or through email.
