Almost Christmas!

Dear Parents,

Thank you for supporting St Raphael's Hospice

Thanks for all your support for the Rudolph Run, we had such a wonderful day, the children really enjoyed running around the school site, we were fortunate to be blessed with good weather. Thanks to all the children and staff for entering the run in such good spirits.

Please send your completed forms and funds in to school through the class teacher at registration or via the member of staff at the gates.

It's lovely to support our local hospice in this way, it's been a tough fundraising year for them, they are incredibly grateful for your fundraising.

Holiday closure as scheduled

As you can see below, school will close as scheduled next Friday at lunchtime.

Good luck Mrs Everton
Mrs Everton leaves us to start her maternity leave next Friday, we all wish her well and look forward to hearing about her new arrival in February. Mrs Nash joins the school in the new term to cover for Mrs Everton, she will be in school next week.

Congratulations - we made it through the term safely!

Thanks everyone for all your support for lining up, maintaining bubbles, wearing masks and keeping the school community safe. We appreciate all the phone calls and emails that have kept us up to date with how COVID-19 has affected your family. As a school community we have managed to keep all our classes open for the whole term with not a single day of closure. Through lots of hard work in cleaning and disinfecting the school, in keep groups apart and maintaining good hand hygiene, we have managed to stay well. We realise that the timings at the gate are not ideal for any of us - but they are working and are keeping us safe.

God bless Mr Fowler and our wonderful cleaning team who work tirelessly after hours to disinfect and clean the school. Thanks to all the staff who have supported the cleaning regime we have in place and have helped to clean when needed.

We look forward to a vaccine and perhaps a return to normality over the coming calendar year.

New members of the Governing Body

We welcomed Nick Jury and Yvonne Lavelle, both currently parents in school, to the Governing Body as Foundation Governors this week, it is lovely to have them on board. Foundation Governors are appointed with the approval of the Bishop for a four year term of office. I forgot to take their photo but will catch them next time!

Learning Labs

We have a new curriculum intranet coming your way in January. The Learning Labs are little websites from your child's teaching team, they contain the detail of the curriculum for the Spring term along with internet links to learning resources, youtube videos and sound files. The sites are open access, no need to login, we will send the links out on Class Dojo in January. Several of you mentioned the need for more curriculum information on the parent survey so our timing with our learning labs could not be better! Our full curriculum frameworks will be published on our new website in February.

Admission in September 2021 - apply now!

Please don't forget that applications for admission to Nursery and Reception in September 2021 need to be into school by January 15th, 2021. If you are applying for Reception please remember to complete the online application process via the local authority.

Bounceback

We use Bounceback as our main teaching resource for our Wellbeing / PSHCE education programme. They have published additional guidance for parents on helping children to remain positive during these challenging days of the pandemic, which can be very isolating for children. Please click on the buttons below to access the resources.

You can find out more about Bounceback in the short video below from one of its authors, Toni Noble.

To download a Bounceback poster for your own home, please see the pdf link below.

Bounceback can be quite helpful for adults too! We will have information sessions on Bounceback once we are able to welcome parents on the school site again.
