- Woodsy Owl Spirit Day - Halloween Costumes
Hello Woodsy Owl Families,
Dear Sierra Hills Families,
Every school day gives children opportunities to learn, build friendships, and grow in confidence. Being here regularly matters—and so does staying home when sick. Please follow our school illness guidelines ( See Below.) and give your child the rest needed to recover. Our goal is healthy children who are ready to learn, and we appreciate your partnership in finding that balance.
Whenever possible, please plan trips during school breaks. If a trip during school is unavoidable, request independent study through the office a full seven days before departure. An approved agreement, with assigned work completed and returned on time, helps your child stay connected to learning, reduces the risk of falling behind, and allows qualifying days to receive attendance credit rather than becoming unexcused absences. It also helps protect school funding.
A small funding note: California ties much of school funding to attendance. For context, the published 2025–26 K–3 adjusted base funding equates to approximately $63 per student per school day—This is not a fixed Placer County payment or an exact daily loss, just a rough estimate.
Above all, your child’s health and learning come first. We want every student to learn to the best of their ability, and regular attendance—when children are healthy and ready to participate—helps make that possible. Thank you for helping your child come to school ready to learn and giving them time to recover at home when they are sick!

Fall is officially here at Sierra Hills! Look for a flyer in your child's walk-home folder about the PTC's Owl-oween Boo-tique Costume Swap, and keep an eye out for the bright orange posters around campus. It's a free way to pass along costumes your kids have outgrown and pick up a "new" one. Donations open October 1 at the school office or Wellness Center. Thank you to our PTC and Wellness Center for bringing this to our families!
