• Help your child’s grandparents sign up to Read (K-5), come to breakfast (PreK 3 AM & PreK 4) or come to lunch (PreK 3 PM)

• All grandparents complete the Grandparent's Day RSVP to assist with a speedy check in.

• Remind your child’s loved ones that due to space, we will not be able to have any lunch visitor on 9/8 except for those eating with PreK 3 PM.

• If your child rides the bus, register on the SMART Tag Parent Portal for a Smart Tag.

• Sign up for the Backpack Food Program, if needed

We are excited to welcome our grandparents into Knowles Elementary to celebrate Grandparent’s Day on Friday, September 8th! For Kindergarten through 5th grades, grandparents are invited to RSVP for a time to read a story book to their grandchild’s class. We will have a selection of books available in each classroom. The reading sign up form can be found: Grandparent's Day / Dia de los Abuelitos.

For PreK 3 AM and all Prek 4, grandparents are invited to breakfast from 7:45-8:15 am. For PreK 3 PM, grandparents are invited to lunch from 12:30-1pm.

All grandparents will need to also complete the Grandparents Day Raptor Form to expedite your check-in at the front office. In order to allow our teachers and office staff to plan for your visit, reading sign up and Raptor RSVPs will be available until Wednesday, September 6th, 2023 at 10am.

Due to the limited space available in our cafeteria, we will not be able to accommodate lunch visitors on this day except for those eating with PreK 3.

Please send in headphones or earbuds for your students in Kindergarten through 5th grade next week. Students will be using their headphones and/or earbuds throughout the school year when using technology for our online reading and math assessments and for classroom activities such as listening to books on the computer, watching educational videos, and practicing their reading and math skills on digital platforms.

The bilingual schools in Leander ISD are delighted to invite you to the first intercampus Family Collaboration Night for all participants in the Dual Language program for the 2023-24 school year.

What will we do at this meeting?

Please send all transportation changes to knowlesadmin@leanderisd.org by 1:30pm. By sending your change to our email box, we will ensure your change is made in a timely manner. Several staff members have access to this email box and will monitor it when our regular dismissal manager, Ms. Elie is off campus.

Please include your child’s first and last name, teacher name, and transportation change. Please specify if this is a one time or permanent change.

If your student is getting checked out early for the day, please make sure it’s done no later than 2pm. Please give the front office a call 10 minutes before you arrive so you aren’t waiting, and they have your student in the office by the time you arrive.

If your child has their SmartTag from last year, they will work for bus service again this year. If your child turned in their SmartTag or has not previously been issued on, they will be issued in the next few weeks by the bus driver. Please be sure you have registered your bus rider for a Smart Tag by going to the SMART Tag Parent Portal and select Register to begin the registration process. Once registered, parents and guardians can sign up for SMART Alerts to receive a text message notification 10 to 15 minutes before the bus arrives at their child’s bus stop. While on the bus, the Parent Portal also provides a live map to see the bus' location in near real time.

To complete the registration, you will need the following:

• The campus name of your child

• Your child’s student ID number

• Your child’s date of birth

Backpack Food Program

The Backpack Food program provides a bag of non-perishable food items to our students in need of food support on a weekly basis. Only ONE form needs to be filled out per family with multiple students.
