What we are learning in . . . What we are learning in . . .

Math🔢

our 4th graders will be diving into fractions! Students will learn how to represent and decompose fractions. These skills will help strengthen their number sense and prepare them for more complex math concepts ahead.

Science🔬

We will explore exciting new topics in Science! Students will learn about forces, including how pushes and pulls can change an object’s motion, and they’ll study the phases of the Moon during our Moon Cycle unit. These lessons help students build strong observation and critical-thinking skills as they explore how the world around them works.

ELA📚

We’re starting Unit 4, The Middle Ages. In this unit, students will read engaging information texts while building skills.

Students are working on key reading and writing skills:

  • Use prefixes, suffixes, and context clues to understand new vocabulary.

  • Comprehend and make inferences using text evidence.

  • Identify main ideas, supporting details, and text structures in informational texts.

  • Write clear informational texts with a central idea and supporting details.

Through the study of The Middle Ages, students are strengthening comprehension, vocabulary, and writing while connecting reading to history and culture.

Social Studies📜

We are learning about Spanish explorers and the early missions in Texas. Students are discovering how these explorers influenced the development of our state and how missions played an important role in Texas history. We’re excited to see students making connections between the past and the world they live in today!
