Move-up Day
BFA proudly welcomed approximately 250 students from the Maple Run Unified School District and school choice communities for our annual Move Up Day. This exciting event gave incoming students the opportunity to meet their new advisors, teachers, and future classmates. Students toured the building, explored elective programs, learned about athletics and co-curricular opportunities, and received their schedules for the upcoming school year. We are excited to welcome the Class of 2029 back for Parent-Student Orientation on Monday, August 25th!
Rock Concert
BFA Hosted it’s first “Rock Show” on Tuesday, May 27th. The show was produced by Eric Bushey with assistance from Armand Messier and Doug Bell with sounds and lights.
BFA’s Modern Band “A-319” was the headlining act. The opening band, “Primitive” was made up four MVU Students who had their first “out of MVU” playing experience together. The middle band was two BFA class of 2023 Alumni, Nic Farinaccio, Drums and Will Austin, piano. They dazzled the audience with their renditions of Elton John, REO Speedwagon and Billy Joel.
A-319 closed the show with full band selections and smaller combos. Music of Stevie Wonder, The Temptations, The O’Jay, The Backseat Loves, My Chemical Romance, and several others were featured. The crowd was delighted and the sentiment is that this is the first of many such rock shows to come.
Choral Concert
BFA Music Presents Annual Spring Choral Concert
On May 28, 2025, BFA Music hosted its annual Spring Choral Concert, celebrating the talents and achievements of its vocal ensembles and graduating seniors. The evening featured outstanding performances by Senior Soloists Kovu Hughes, Ares Young, Emma Gibson, and Chloe Weinstein.
The BFA Chamber Singers presented stirring renditions of Randall Thompson and Robert Frost’s The Road Not Taken, as well as John Rutter’s For the Beauty of the Earth.
Graduating seniors recognized for their participation in both Chorus and Chamber Singers included: J-dyn Lepage, Jon Coulombe, Emma Gibson, Ares Young, Kovu Hughes, Marshal Cronin, Lilian Duffy, and Chloe Weinstein.
The BFA Chorus performed a diverse program, ranging from 16th-century Renaissance works to contemporary pop. Highlights included a cappella renditions of Thomas Tallis’ If Ye Love Me, Moses Hogan’s powerful 8-part arrangement of The Battle of Jericho, and a creative choral take on I Want It That Way. Additional selections included Bob Dylan’s Ring Them Bells, Pinkzebra’s Fly Away Home, and the Shaker classic Simple Gifts, which featured Lilian Duffy on flute.
The concert was directed by Armand Messier, who has led BFA's choral ensembles for the past 25 years. Accompaniment was provided by Chris Leduc on piano.
