π Una Ofrenda para el DΓa de los Muertos π
The Spanish Honor Society will be creating a community ofrenda for the Day of the Dead this year, and we are inviting you to participate to remember a dearly departed loved one. This ofrenda will be a space to reflect on the lives and legacies of those who have come before us and have left a mark on our identities, communities, and history. If you would like to have a loved one remembered, use this form to upload a high quality image of the person with their full name.
All submissions need to be received by the end of this week to be included in the community ofrenda.
π£ Club Spotlight: Model UN π£
Model UN is a simulation of the United Nations, where students perform an ambassador role while debating topics like gender equality, climate action, and global health.
On Saturday, October 19th, West Leydenβs Model UN Club participated in Carl Sandburg High Schoolβs 15th Annual Model UN Conference. At this conference, students discussed topics and resolutions to issues such as the impact climate change has on human rights and the pollution of microplastics. Our West Leyden competitors collaborated with delegates from all around Illinois, and we are proud to say that we took home an award! Grace Dillon won Outstanding Delegate representing the United States on the SOCHUM committee! Our club is so proud of her and we are looking forward to our upcoming conference in November, hoping to bring back even more awards!
