The OMS Community Newsletter
Week of Sept. 9 - Sept. 13, 2024
Principal's Message
Dear OMS Community,
This week, we distributed chromebooks to students. Grade 6 students received new chromebooks and chargers. Grade 6 parents/guardians, please sign the chromebook contract and have your student return them to their Knight Time teacher.
Grades 7 and 8 students received their chromebooks from last year. They should still have their chargers at home as we did not collect chargers last year. If your student needs a new charger, you can get one from Amazon.
All new students will receive a chromebook and charger. If you are still waiting to receive a chromebook, our technology department is quickly working on getting those to you. Thank you for your patience.
Students should all treat their chromebooks with care as they are fragile. If a student has an issue with their chromebook, they can go to the Learning Commons and see Mrs. Eckhart to explain the issue. Mrs. Eckhart will be able to fill out a technology help desk ticket so that someone from our technology department can fix it.
Students should use their chromebooks for schoolwork. At school, we use Blocksi Security to block inappropriate websites and monitor chromebooks. Please monitor your student's chromebook usage at home. I recommend taking the chromebook away at night or putting it in a designated location so that students are able to get a good night's sleep before school the next day.
Best,
Mrs. Katrina Crowley
OMS Principal

Please join us for Back to School Night on Tuesday, September 17th from 6-8pm. This event is for parents and guardians only.
Back to School Night provides you an opportunity to meet your child’s teachers, see all of the classrooms, and get important information about each class. The evening will begin in the OMS Cafe with the OMS administration at 6pm. Afterwards, you will follow an abbreviated version of your child's schedule. Students will go home on Monday afternoon with a Back to School Night schedule to give to you. Make sure to bring the schedule with you to Back to School Night so you know where to go!
While you are at OMS, please visit the PTSO, OASIS, and MA Safe Roads to School tables on the first floor. If you need help with the PowerSchool Portal, you can visit Mrs. Gorman in the main office from 5:30-6:30pm.
Bilingual Parent Night
On Thursday, September 25th from 6:00-8:00 PM at Stoughton High School is Bilingual Parent Night. Parents will learn about school expectations, meet your child's ESL teacher, get help with the Parent Portal and more. Interpreters will be present. See the attached flyer.
Late Bus Information
The secondary late buses will begin on Monday, September, 16th. The late bus is free and accessible to any OMS or SHS student who participates in an after school activity or stays after school with a teacher. Students can receive a late bus pass from their activity's advisor/coach or the teacher they work with after school. The late bus departs OMS at 3:40pm.
There are three late buses this school year. Please keep in mind, the late bus has central stops so these will be different than the regular bus stops. Below are the routes and stops for the three late buses.
More information about after school clubs and activities will be available on the OMS website next week.

Frequently Asked Questions
In middle school, there are many teachers, counselors, and administrators. It may be confusing to know who to contact in a school with 100 staff members! We created a Frequently Asked Questions guide to help answer questions. Please see the attached document for help. We will be adding this FAQ to our OMS website.
24-25 SPS Event Pass
We are excited for students to attend SPS events and become involved in our school community. Middle school is a time when students are maturing and gaining independence. If OMS students plan to attend SPS events unaccompanied by an adult, then they must present an SPS Event Pass. This is required for SHS home football games and attendance as audience members for OMS concerts, basketball games, and the spring musical. This pass signifies that the student and their parent/guardian are aware of the expectations for student behavior at SPS events. The permission slip must be turned in 2 days before the event in order to receive the pass in time for the event. The permission slip is attached and students can pick up the permission slip from the office.
The first SHS home football game is next Friday, September 13th at 7pm. Permission slips must be received by Wednesday, September 11th if students plan to attend the 9/13 game without a parent.
Please note: OMS students do NOT need the SPS Event Pass if they are attending an event with a parent/guardian
