Mill Valley Weekly
January 30th, 2025
Hello Mill Valley Families,
As we near the end of January, we hope your family is enjoying reading our One Book, One School book Because of the Rabbit with your child(ren). This week the goal is to read or listen to MV staff members read Chapters 5 - 7. On Monday (2/3), there will be a trivia question on the morning announcements for students to answer about Chapters 5 - 7!
As we head into February, we are looking forward to one of our most favorite days of every year which is the 100th Day of School, (Friday, February 7th)! Students and staff have so much fun dressing like they are 100 years old! See below for pictures from previous years for inspiration.
Sincerely,
Allyce & Julie

PAW PRINT WINNERS
Please join us on April 2nd anytime between 5:30-7:00 PM at Bay Lane Elementary for our 4K Student and Caregiver Open House. When you arrive, be sure to grab a Student Bingo Card that will lead you and your child through our 4K classrooms. Each classroom will be open with a designated activity for students to participate in. During the open house, students and caregivers will have an opportunity to learn more about math, literacy, fine motor, music/movement and social skills. It should take approximately 30-45 minutes to visit all the planned activities. There will be classroom teachers and administrators available to provide information and answer general questions you might have. More information regarding 4K and registration can be found on our district website.
Tips on Tardies
Every morning, the first bell rings at 9:00am. This is when the doors open and students may enter the school either from the parent pick up line, from the buses, or at door 13.
If a student arrives AFTER 9:10am, parents must sign their student in at the office (door 1). They will be marked TSE (tardy school excused).
If a student arrives BEFORE the bell at 9:10am rings, but is not in the classroom at that time, they are marked TCU (tardy class unexcused). Student are expected to be in their classroom, ready for learning by 9:10.
Getting your student here on time is imperative to helping their day start off right. Arriving on time ensures they can engage fully in the day’s lessons, participate in important activities, and build a sense of responsibility and routine. It also allows them to feel settled and ready to learn, which contributes to their overall success and well-being at school.

Because of the Rabbit
- Linked HERE is a schedule of the readings each week. The Monday following a week of reading, there will be trivia questions for students to answer at school!
- Mill Valley Staff members recorded each chapter for students to listen to if that option works better for your family! The audio recordings are provided in this link.
Thank you in advance for participating in this fun all school activity!
Special THANK YOU to the PTO for funding the purchase of the books for each student.
Upcoming Friendship Parties 2/14
As you know, we have transitioned away from using edible treats for birthdays school-wide. With Valentine’s Day approaching, we want to remind everyone that this will also apply to Valentine’s Day celebrations. Food-based items are not allowed for the Valentine exchange. There are many non-food based options such as bouncy balls, glow sticks, slime, etc. Any edible treats brought to school will be sent back home. Thank you for your understanding and cooperation!
You will receive more specific communication from your child(ren)'s teacher.

This year, classroom teachers will be teaching with two new resources! This will be an adjustment for staff, students, and parents/caregivers. We want to be sure to offer multiple opportunities to keep families engaged and learning alongside our staff and students.
Each month, there will be a short recorded presentation shared with you that answers a focus question. The videos will cover various curriculum topics. Please see the outline below. These videos will be linked in school newsletters and posted on the Muskego-Norway Teaching and Learning website.
The December topic focuses on literacy instruction, including strategies and ideas for supporting literacy development at home.
Join us for a movie day at Marcus Ridge on Friday February 28th at 1 pm.
Please submit RSVP and payment by Wednesday February 18th.
Cash, check (to MV PTO), Venmo or online payment all accepted.
