The Eagle Update
Olivehurst Elementary- Together we SOAR
September 2026
π Quick Highlights
Hello Olivehurst families,
- Please see our parking lot procedures video below for reminders about morning drop off. The yellow curb is for loading/unloading only- please don't stop or park there.
- Students should not be bringing toys to school. This includes squishies/neatos. Please help us enforce this by checking your student's backpack before they come to school.
- Thank you so much for everyone that attended Back to School Night and the Book Fair. It was wonderful to see so many families getting involved in their child's education.

π Eagle Eye
Our Eagle Eye is focused on...Meet our Support Staff!
- In addition to our teachers, we have support staff on campus to help ensure all students receive the supports they need to be successful.
- Support staff work closely with you and your child's teacher throughout the year.
π« PBIS
Each month, our school focuses on a particular character trait to help teach and reinforce positive behaviors. We kicked off the year focusing on Safety for the month of August. Some students will be receiving awards for demonstrating outstanding safety at our upcoming morning assembly.
September's character trait is Organization. Here are some ways to be organized:
- Keep your desk and backpack organized so you can easily find materials
- Put materials back where they belong after you use them
- When recess is over, put all equipment away in the appropriate location even if you're not the one who got it out
- Make sure all garbage goes in a trash can whether you are in your classroom, in the cafeteria, or on the playground
- Keep your personal belongings (backpack, jacket, water bottle) in the same location so you don't forget to bring it to and from school each day
- Put your completed homework and any papers your family has signed for you right back in your backpack so you remember to return them to school

π Principal's Corner
Dear Olivehurst Elementary Families,
While educating our students is at the heart of what we do, the safety and well-being of our entire school community will always be our highest priority. We have multiple policies, procedures, and safety measures in place to help ensure that our students, staff, and campus are as safe and prepared as possible in the event of an emergency.
First and foremost, Olivehurst Elementary is a closed campus. During the school day, only students and staff are permitted on campus unless a family member or guest has a specific reason to visit. All visitors are required to check in through our Raptor Visitor Management System, where identification is scanned and screened against a secure database to help ensure there are no restrictions preventing an individual from being on campus. Raptor also provides individualized visitor badges, allowing staff to easily identify authorized guests.
In addition to visitor screening, our school follows multiple safety procedures each day. These include keeping exterior doors and gates secured, maintaining emergency protocols and supplies in every classroom and throughout the campus, and providing close supervision of students at all times. Our site safety team meets monthly to review emergency preparedness procedures, ensure safety protocols are current and clearly communicated to staff, and address concerns brought forward by staff, students, or families.
MJUSD works in close, daily partnership with the Yuba County Sheriff's Department and the Marysville Police Department to enhance campus security. As part of this partnership, we have three dedicated School Resource Officers (SROs) in our district who actively serve and protect all of our school sites. Additionally, district and school leaders meet weekly to review, discuss, and proactively address any safety concerns. Throughout the school year, it is common for a school to occasionally enter a protective lockdown. We want you to understand what these terms mean so you are informed:
- Soft Lockdown: A precautionary measure typically used if there is an active incident in the surrounding neighborhood or a disruption in the front office. School business usually continues indoors, but perimeter doors are secured.
- Hard Lockdown: Used when there is a potential or immediate danger close to or on the campus.
In any lockdown situation, our immediate, absolute priority is to get staff and students into a secure
location to keep everyone safe. Because our staff will be entirely focused on securing the campus, we will not be able to release students, answer phones, or operate the door buzzer during a lockdown. We appreciate your understanding and cooperation.
We recognize the tremendous trust you place in us each day to care for and protect your children, and we do not take that responsibility lightly. We value our partnership with families and encourage you to reach out if you have a safety concern that needs our attention. You may contact the school directly or submit information through the anonymous reporting link below, which is also available on our school website.
Thank you for your continued trust and partnership. Together, we will continue working to provide a safe, supportive, and positive learning environment for every Olivehurst Elementary student.

πͺ Get Involved!
Raptor is our districtβs visitor management system designed to enhance campus safety by screening all school guests against secure databases before entry. In order to keep our campuses safe, we require ALL visitors to scan their legal ID in RAPTOR. Beginning in September, we will be launching a new feature within Raptor that allows visitors to pre-register for scheduled events.
If you download the RAPTOR APP, you will be able to pre-register for events, such as awards assemblies, or other special events happening during school hours, for quicker entry. Click on the icon to see instructions on how to install RaptorSafe on your phone.
