A Message from the Principal
๐ฏ A Few Important Reminders
As we settle into the school year, we want to remind our Tigers of a few expectations that help make JWMS a positive place to learn, grow, and support one another
โค๏ธ Be Kind โ Not Every Thought Needs to Be Said
Words matter. Not every thought needs to be spoken, especially if it is unkind, unnecessary, or has the potential to hurt someone else.
Please remind your student to:
Use their manners when speaking to others.
Find a respectful way to ask someone to stop talking. โShut upโ is not an appropriate way to communicate with classmates or adults.
Keep hands, feet, and objects to themselves.
Remember that being funny at someone else's expense isn't funny to the person on the receiving end.
A good rule to follow: If it isn't kind, helpful, or necessary, it probably doesn't need to be said.
๐ Schoolwork Is Not Optional
Assignments are expected to be completed and turned in on time. Students are given time during the school day to work, and they need to use that time wisely. If work isn't completed during the time provided, it becomes homework.
Grades are updated weekly, so families should make a habit of checking grades and talking with students about missing assignments or areas where they may need additional help.
ASAP is available MondayโThursday until 4:30 p.m. for students who need extra time, homework help, or academic support. Please encourage your student to take advantage of it!
โ ๏ธ Ineligibility Begins This Week
This week begins our ineligibility period.
If your student had 2 or more Fs last Friday and still has 2 or more Fs this week, they will be ineligible for the following week.
Being ineligible means students may not participate in OR attend district activities or events. This includes athletic events and other school-sponsored activities.
Please check grades with your student before Friday and encourage them to communicate with their teachers, complete missing work, and use ASAP when they need help.
๐๐ Home Game Reminders
We love having our students at home games cheering on the Tigers! To keep our events safe and enjoyable, please review these expectations with your student:
Doors for MS home games open to patrons at 4:00 p.m.
Students may not stay at school until the game begins. They must leave school at dismissal and return at 4:00 p.m.
When returning, students must enter through the gate and either pay admission or show their pass.
Students may not hang around inside or outside the school waiting for the doors to open.
Once inside, students should be in the stands watching the game and cheering on the Tigers.
The commons is not a place to run around or play during games.
At football games, students should remain in the spectator areas rather than running around the football field.
No one is allowed to play on the football field.
We want students at our events, and we love their school spirit! We just need them to remember that attending a game means watching the game, supporting our Tigers, and following school expectations.
๐๐๐ Away Game Reminders โ Our Tigers Are Hitting the Road!
As our middle school teams hit the road this week, please remember our expectations for students leaving away events with family.
Students who are not riding the bus back to school must be signed out by their parent or legal guardian at the conclusion of ALL games.
If you need your child to ride home with someone other than their parent or legal guardian, the following is required:
Mrs. Dooley must receive an email at least 24 hours in advance giving permission for your child to ride home with that person.
Permission must be in writing via email.
Phone calls, text messages, or last-minute verbal permission will not be accepted.
Please do not wait until the day of the event or contact the coach during the event to make alternate transportation arrangements.
These procedures help us know exactly who each student is leaving with and ensure that all of our Tigers are accounted for and get home safely.
Thank you for planning ahead and helping our coaches keep track of everyone while we're on the road!
๐ฏ Safe travels, Tigers โ and GO WEST!
๐ฏ Be kind. Work hard. Make good choices. Cheer loud. GO TIGERS!
