Carlton County Livestock PDC meeting will be held on February 8th at 6 p.m. at the Carlton County Extension office. We will be discussing the Carlton County Fair schedule and a fitting and showmanship clinic. All are welcome!

Join us on Saturday, February 11th to explore the world of gross science focusing on your teeth and what leads to cavities. Learn more about how you can prevent dental issues by brushing, flossing, limiting sugary foods and going to the dentist regularly.

This session is available virtually with some in-person offerings. Please check with your local Extension office for in-person availability. If attending in person, please be sure to bring a water bottle. Note: Parents are welcome to attend with their children.

All Cloverbuds (grades K-2) in the Northeast region are invited to participate in 4-H Cloverbud Project Days. We'll be offering an event once a month from November 2022 through March 2023. Each session will highlight a different 4-H project area and give Cloverbuds the opportunity to explore, complete hands-on projects, make new friends and learn new skills.

Registration opens in 4-H Online on Jan. 5 and closes on Feb. 8.

We will be having our monthly Federation meeting on Monday, February 13th at 6:30 p.m. at the Carlton County Extension office. It is VERY important that we have a good representation of 4-H youth and volunteers (including parents!) at Federation meetings. Make your voice heard and attend monthly Federation meetings.

The animal ID deadline for market beef (including beef steers, market heifers and dairy steers) is quickly approaching! Make sure to enter your animal ID information into our membership database, 4-H Online, by February 15th, 2023. Learn more z.umn.edu/beef-id.

Free ear tags are available for all species at the Carlton County Extension Office.

There is a training that is coming up I would encourage you all to attend! Jeremy Freeman will be here to talk about how to structure your club meetings and how to utilize your club agenda.

We are still collecting donations for our Care Package Drive. All donations will be assembled in care packages and sent overseas to soldiers currently serving. Here are some ideas of what you could donate:

• non-perishable snacks (protein bars, gum, beef jerky, etc)
• individual drink mix packets
• small games or cards
• personal hygiene items (sunscreen, lip balm, powder, etc)
• high-quality socks

Please bring all donations to the Extension Office by February 13th (or bring to with you to the Federation meeting that night!)

Every year, millions of crayons are discarded in landfills by restaurants. Crayons containing wax are harmful to our environment because they have the chemical petroleum, which takes years to decompose in a landfill. The Crayon Initiative seeks to solve this problem by reconstructing the excess crayons and giving them to kids in hospitals.

We will be collecting broken crayons at the Carlton County Extension Office throughout the month of February.

The Carlton County Extension office will be closed to the public on Monday, February 20th, 2023 in observance of President's Day. Extension staff will be available via phone or email.

Join Kristy Lilienthal on February 23rd at 6 p.m. to learn more about the USDA Youth Loan options. These low interest loans could be used to buy the show heifer, goat, show supplies, feed etc. This could give kids the opportunity that they did not have before along with teaching them about financing and real life skills. https://extension.umn.edu/event/carlton-county-4-h-usda-youth-loan-presentation

Carlton County 4-H will be holding an Explore 4-H Night on March 20th from 6 p.m. until 8 p.m p.m. All Carlton County youth and parents are invited to come and learn about all the possibilities 4-H has to offer!
