FROM THE SUPERINTENDENT
Light Earthquake Vibrations Felt
Dear CSD Community,
Earlier today we experienced the vibrations from a light (reported 4.7-4.8) earthquake that occurred in the NJ area. School administrators and facility staff have walked our schools to check for any damage. There is no observable damage in any of our buildings from the earthquake at this time. An update will be provided if needed.
Sincerely,
Dana T. Bedden, Ed.D., CAA
Superintendent of Schools

Magic School Top 5 for March
Congrats to Mr. Keeney (WT HPE), Mr. Coller (SPED KL), and Ms. Slipp (WT BCIT) who entered the Top 5 users of the month. They join repeat top users (Ms. King (WT ART) and Ms. Buzan (KL SS)).
March was our most used Magic School month since professional development in October 2023 with 1,247 unique generations over the course of the month. That's almost DOUBLE usage in February-- and in a month made short by Spring Break! #teachersaremagic

Spring 2024 PSSA & Keystone Assessment Information & Schedule
The Office of Teaching and Learning is pleased to share that Centennial students will complete the 2024 Spring PSSA and Keystone Exam assessments online (the online assessment option for schools has been available since 2014). Some of the advantages of online assessment include:
Makes assessments more accessible for diverse student populations.
Allows students to start testing more quickly because of the opportunities to become familiar with the testing tools and that test directions are shorter than with paper tests.
Enables students to interact with the tests using built-in features, including highlighters, calculators, and review tools.
Increases student engagement in the assessment process.
It is essential that your child brings a fully-charged device and charger EVERY DAY of PSSA/Keystone testing. Please remind your child to charge the device after school as they charge their own personal devices (cellphones, laptops, earbuds, etc.)
The assessment dates are:
PSSA (Grades 3-8)

Mathematics
Science (Gr. 4 and 8 only)
April 24, 25, and 26

Centennial Receives National Recognition for Music Education Support
Centennial has been honored with the Best Communities for Music Education designation from The NAMM Foundation for its outstanding commitment to music education. Now in its 25th year, the Best Communities for Music Education designation is awarded to districts that demonstrate outstanding achievement for providing music access and education to all students.
To qualify for the Best Communities designation, CSD answered detailed questions about funding, graduation requirements, music class participation, instruction time, facilities, support for the music program and community music-making programs. Responses were verified by school officials and reviewed by The Music Research Institute at the University of Kansas.
Congratulations to all of our music departments and talented and budding musicians!
Survey Participation Requested: K-12 Social Studies Program Evaluation
Dear CSD Families,
The Office of Teaching & Learning is inviting you to add your voice and provide feedback regarding our K-12 Social Studies Program Evaluation being conducted by Hanover Research.
Centennial School District (CSD) wants to capture a clear understanding of our current social studies programming and identify opportunities for improving and better aligning our social studies curriculum for grades Kindergarten through 12.
As we have done for other subjects, the Centennial School District has requested that Hanover Research evaluate the district’s K-12 Social Studies program; Hanover will submit a Capstone Report to us in June. A crucial component of that final report is a Social Studies Program Perception Survey. Centennial wants to know staff members, parents, and students (Grades 6+) perceptions of and experiences with social studies teaching and learning. Your responses will help us understand the current state of the social studies programs in our K-12 schools.
This study is for research purposes only and is anonymous, so please be candid in your responses and do not use your name or other identifying items in your open-ended responses. The survey can be accessed HERE and will close on April 5, 2024 at midnight:

We are grateful for your participation!
CENTENNIAL HIGHLIGHTS
ACADEMICS
Klinger Mini-THON
On Friday, March 22, 2024, over 100 Klinger Middle School students participated in the annual mini-THON as dancers or spectators. The Student Council and Builders Club organized the event, choosing music, dances, games, and projects to assist the dancers in lasting three hours on their feet.
All proceeds go to the Four Diamonds - a charity founded by the parents of Christopher Millard who lost his life to cancer. Four Diamonds is on a mission to conquer childhood cancer.
This charity covers 100 percent of all medical expenses related to cancer care not covered by insurance for eligible Four Diamonds children. Because of the community’s steady and generous support, Four Diamonds has assisted 100 percent of the childhood cancer patients who have been treated at Penn State Health Children’s Hospital.
Since its creation in 1972, Four Diamonds has helped more than 4,800 children and families and supported a diverse platform of childhood cancer research at Penn State Hershey Medical Center and Penn State College of Medicine, seeking improved treatments and cures to benefit kids around the world.
Collectively, the Klinger community raised $ 6,712.00+ for the Four Diamonds Foundation. Our top three fundraisers were Giulana Lynch, Nicoletta Vafiadis, and Gavin Sanders. Congratulations to all the dancers! FTK (For the Kids)
Patriot Challenge
The Valley Forge Alumnae recently sponsored a research contest highlighting the contributions made by African American Patriots during the American Revolutionary War. Students from Bucks, Chester and Montgomery Counties in grades 6-8 had the opportunity to submit research in the form of an original essay, poem, song, rap, or play in written or video form. All Log College Students through Social Studies classes had the opportunity to enter this contest voluntarily. 7th Grade student, Chiamaka Uzonwone was one of three winners throughout the counties receiving a $150 cash prize. Log is very proud of Chiamaka and her recognition. Keep on writing!!
Here is Chiamaka’s submission.
Reading Olympics at Davis Elem
Davis Elementary sent 5 teams of students to this year's Reading Olympics! Thank you to Mrs. Shepper for spearheading the Reading Olympics at Davis, along with the Davis teachers who support the students participating in this great competition. We are proud of all of you!
Young Women in STEM Conference
Before Spring Break, a group of 7th and 8th-grade girls had the opportunity to visit Princeton University for the Young Women in STEM Conference. At the start of the day, students listened to a presentation from Dr. Tania Lombrozo, the Director of Cognitive Science at Princeton University. Dr. Lombrozo shared her research on how the brain processes information and told stories about the challenges she has faced as a woman in a scientific field. Next, the Log students took part in a real Chemistry lesson in one of the Princeton lecture halls. After the Chemistry lesson, they sat in on a career panel. The panel included biochemical engineers, nuclear physicists, and aerospace scientists! Finally, the girls ended their day with all kinds of hands-on science activities. It was an amazing experience!
Willow Dale's 2024 Reading Olympians Awarded Ribbons
On Thursday, April 4th, Willow Dale's three Reading Olympics teams traveled to Central Bucks School District to compete in the 2024 Reading Olympics competition. The students met after school to prepare, reading many of the 25 pre-selected books on the Reading Olympics list. After competing in three rounds of trivia questions, our "Royal Readers" received a blue ribbon, our "Fiction Addiction" received a blue ribbon, and our "Masters of Chapters" received a yellow ribbon. Thank you to all our staff who helped out at the competition. What a great night to celebrate our love of reading!
