Superintendent's Weekly Update

October 27, 2023
Dear Weymouth Public Schools' Community,
I hope this message finds you well, it is with heavy hearts that we address the tragedy that has recently unfolded in our neighboring state of Maine as we all grapple with the news of the tragedy that took place there.
Our thoughts and prayers go out to the victims, their families, and all those affected by this senseless act of violence. In times like these, it is essential for us as a community to come together to support one another and to offer solace
We understand that events like this can be deeply unsettling, especially for our students. It is crucial that we provide them with a safe and supportive environment to express their feelings and concerns. Our counseling staff and resources are available to help those who may need assistance in processing their emotions.
As a school community, we are committed to fostering empathy, compassion, and understanding among our students. We encourage open discussions about violence, its consequences, and the importance of conflict resolution. In the coming days and weeks, our teachers will be prepared to address these topics in age-appropriate ways, with sensitivity and care.
Please remember that we are here for you, and our doors are always open to anyone in need. Do not hesitate to reach out to our staff if you or your child require support or someone to talk to during this difficult time.
In the face of tragedy, we can choose to stand together to offer kindness and support. Together, we can make a difference.
Thank you for being a part of our school community.
Sincerely,
Robert Wargo, Superintendent
