#CrowleyPrideUnified
The first day of school in Crowley ISD is Thursday, Aug. 11.
We are excited to begin a new school year in Crowley ISD! Safety is our priority, and it takes all of us working together to provide safe and secure schools for our students, staff and community.
Crowley ISD continuously reviews and enhances safety measures, and we want to hear from you.
This survey is for parents/guardians and staff to share their safety priorities and any concerns as the new year begins.
Students will have future opportunities to share their perspective in age-appropriate ways.
District Discusses Safety Protocols and Enhancements
At the Crowley ISD Board of Trustees meeting on July 28, 2022, Superintendent Dr. Michael McFarland and district administrators shared the latest information on school safety protocols and enhancements, including what the district already has in place and what's in progress.
The district detailed its work to follow the required School Safety Action Steps ordered by Texas Gov. Greg Abbott, the Texas Education Agency and the Texas School Safety Center, to be completed this summer. In addition, CISD also has proactive safety measures it has taken or that are in progress.
Some of the highlights of the presentation include:
- Enhanced secure vestibules for front offices at every campus
- Exterior door safety audits at every campus
- Upgrade of about 600 campus surveillance cameras
- Convening of district’s Safety and Security Committee to review emergency plans
- Standard Response Protocols at all campuses in case of emergencies (see poster below)
- Reminder about the STOPit anonymous reporting system
- Parking lot welcome centers for Crowley and North Crowley high schools
- Survey for staff and parents/guardians to share safety concerns and priorities
- Upcoming listening sessions and informational videos to increase engagement and awareness
