A Message for Mrs. Czarnecki A Message for Mrs. Czarnecki

Thank you to all of our families who attended Parent-Teacher Conferences. We appreciate you taking the time to connect with your child’s teacher. Please take a few minutes to complete our Parent-Teacher Conference Survey and share your feedback. Your input is important to us!

This month, we will continue focusing on individual student goals and making sure we are teaching students what they need to know to help them grow. We are also proud of our 5th graders for taking their time, staying focused, and giving their best effort on the InView Assessment!

Halloween is quickly approaching! Our Halloween Parade will be Friday, October 30 at 1:15 p.m. Thank you for helping us follow the school’s costume guidelines and keeping the celebration safe and fun for everyone. If the weather does not cooperate, the parade will be canceled.

I am also proud of our students for continuing to live the Wolverine Way—being Respectful, Responsible, Safe, and Caring. Keep earning those Wolverine tickets, celebrating in classrooms, and working toward our whole-school celebrations! Every positive choice makes a difference. Keep being the best Wolverines you can be!

3rd Grade Literacy Activity 🦅 3rd Grade Literacy Activity 🦅

This week in literacy, students learned about characteristics of birds and how they are classified. One of the important characteristics that birds have is their wings, so students measured their own wingspan and compared it to the bald eagle's wingspan of 9 feet.

Stem Club 🔗 Stem Club 🔗

Students were given a single sheet of paper and one roll of tape and challenged to create the longest possible chain. Through this activity, they explored engineering, creativity, and problem-solving while designing and building connected structures. Students tested and strengthened their chains, discovering how individual links work together to create a strong, functional system. The activity concluded with students combining their chains into one long creation, promoting teamwork and collaboration.

Medinah Health Office Reminders Medinah Health Office Reminders

Health Office Contacts:

  • District Nurse, Ashley Malik - asmalik@medinah11.org

  • Health Office Assistant, Ewelina Korzeniewski–ewkorzeniewski@medinah11.org

Required Health Forms:

  • Kindergarten and ALL NEW STUDENTS: Physical, Dental, & Vision

  • 2nd Grade: Dental

Student Needs:

  • Please inform the nurse of any allergies or sensitivities to foods, medications, and environmental allergens. If there are any pertinent details of your students' health that you feel the nurse needs to know, please reach out and discuss this with the school nurse. This information can be helpful to better support your student throughout the day, if certain situations arise.

About Your Student’s Medication:

  • The district's medication policy mandates that all medication to be administered at school requires an MD order, this includes over-the-counter medications. Students may NOT keep over-the-counter meds in their backpacks or in their lockers--including cough drops, Advil, etc. This is an important safety concern! Please review the policy included in the registration process. A completed medication authorization form must be accompanied with any medication administered at school.

  • If your student requires an inhaler, Epi-Pen, or any oral medication, please obtain the medication form and appropriate health care plan from your physician when your child has their exam. Forms may also be obtained on the district website. Medication_Authorization2016.pdf (medinah11.org)

Absences related to illness:

  • If a student is absent for 3 or more consecutive days due to a illness or health issue, a doctor’s note WILL BE required per district policy

Please prepare to keep your child home until:

  • A fever of 100 degrees or greater--they can return to school after being fever-free for 24 hours WITHOUT the use of any fever reducing medication

  • Vomited or had diarrhea--they can return to school after 24 hours illness-free

  • A persistent sore throat/cough--they can return to school after MD evaluation/treatment

  • Body aches/fatigue/paleness--they can return to school when rested/stronger

  • Itchy, draining eyes--they can return to school after MD evaluation/treatment after 24 hours WITH a physician's note to the Nurse

  • A skin rash--they can return to school after MD evaluation/treatment WITH a physician's note to the Nurse

Chromebook Wi-Fi: Beginning this year, student Chromebooks will automatically disconnect from the internet each night at 10:30 p.m and reconnect at 6:00 a.m. We have made this change because we want to support healthy habits and ensure students are getting the sleep they need rather than working late into the night or using their school device for non-school-related purposes. This change helps promote both student wellness and online safety.

Cell Phones and Smart Watches: As we begin the school year, we want to remind families of our expectations regarding cell phones and smart watches. As outlined in the Student Handbook, cell phones and smart watches are not permitted to be used during the school day and should remain in students’ lockers for the entire school day.

We appreciate your support in helping students stay focused, engaged, and present at school. If you need to reach your child during the school day, please contact the MIS office, and we will be happy to assist.

💡 Reminders 💡 Reminders
