Senior Exam Opt Out List

The Senior Exam Opt Out List will be made available to staff and students this week! There is an appeal process that students can utilize if there is a question on if exams should be taken or not. • Must have no more than 2 absences and a B or better in the class
OR
  • Must have no more than 3 absences and a B+ or better in the class

Information for Current Juniors - SAT Score Availability and Future Senior Parent Meeting Info (6/8)

We have two important updates for this year's Juniors that you will want our your radar so that you don't miss out! More information on each of these items is provided below:

  • SAT scores from April's school day testing will be released soon via the College Board App and/or students' College Board accounts. If a student downloads the application, they will be able to see the date on which their scores should be released. Students should tentatively plan to have access to their scores as of 5/14 if they took the test with their peers in school as opposed to during any type of make up session.
  • We know some of our current Juniors (and maybe their parents) are getting nervous about all things Senior Year that are coming up and how to navigate that process. With this in mind, Mrs. Caverly and I will be hosting a Future Senior Parent Meeting on Monday, June 8th at 6 pm in the BCPA. We will be going over much of what you can expect to try to help minimize any anxiety that may currently be present. We hope to see you there!

Tutoring Options at BHS

National Honor Society's After School Tutoring is underway! If your student is in need of extra help, we encourage them to reach out to the teacher first, as they will be the best resource, but have shared this option with them as well, so please feel free to do the same. NHS students will be available to tutor students in room B-1 from 2:30-3:30 on Tuesdays, Wednesdays and Thursdays. Tutoring is free of charge. For more information about after school tutoring or for a list of NHS students who are willing to tutor, go to https://bit.ly/BrightonNHSTutoring Please note: our after school tutor will leave at 2:45 if no students have arrived by then.

In addition to After School Tutoring, we have another tutoring resource available for our students. Every year, the BHS Counseling Office generates a list of adult tutors that can be shared with students and families as an additional option if After School Tutoring doesn't work for them for any reason. These tutors have reached out and asked to be on our tutoring list as a resource to BHS students and families. They have self-reported their qualifications. All adults who are not BAS teachers have passed a background check. It is the responsibility of the students and families to find the best tutor for them, arrange meetings, and make payment.

The 2025-26 Tutor List can be found here.

LACASA Summer Volunteer Opportunities

LACASA would love to have our students volunteer with them this summer. LACASA Collection, a charity resale boutique, has a particular need for assistance with processing and sorting donations, preparing items for the resale, and even photographing items for their eBay store. No experience is required and they’re happy to provide documentation for NHS, scouting, or whatever a student may need. It’s a great setting for either individuals or groups looking to volunteer together. More information, including contact information can be found here.
