MusicAid October Newsletter

Happy Halloween and end of October! We hope everyone has fun dressing up in their costumes and getting plenty of candy!

- Hosted 4 concerts in senior homes across Maryland and Virginia.

In October, we hosted our four regular concerts. This month featured many performances from siblings. While duets between them were sparse, we were nevertheless glad to see individual talents of each sibling.

As siblings perform together, whether in duet or solo, it brings a shared energy that fills the room with a feeling of family. From loyal volunteers that have regularly attended that we are always a pleasure to have, such as trumpist Joel and violinist Isabella, to newer faces, like Edwin and Evelyn Thai, who impressively wield the piano and violin respectively.

We're very grateful to the families who share their joy with our community and who collectively come to support MusicAid. We see siblings perform together, parents recording their kids, and even performances with parents sometimes! Over the past years, we've really come to see MusicAid as one big family. We're thankful for all the warmth and joy that the values of family have brought to the stage.

This month also once again featured many vocal performances. Amongst them, was a performance of Golden by HUNTR/X from the soundtrack of KPop Demon Hunters by Divyadharshini Umamahesh. This movie on Netflix has taken the world by storm, and its viral soundtrack has been inescapable since summer began. The soaring high notes of "Golden," its catchy chorus, and its empowering lyrical themes make it no wonder the song is doing so well even months after release.

As of October, the song battles against Taylor Swift for the No. 1 Spot on the Billboard Hot 100, while it litters the top 10 of most popular Halloween costumes this year, with main characters Rumi, Mira, Zoe, and Jinu, all in the top ten.

MusicAid strongly believes in its message that music is meant to inspire, and KPop Demon Hunters is a strong case for this, notable for the cultural moments and heartwarming message of unity it has brought to this year.
