Whip-Pur Family Update
October 28, 2026
Hello, Whip-Pur Families!
HES students and staff are having fun while participating in the Red Ribbon Week theme of Make a Difference, Be a Hero, Stay Drug Free. The theme emphasizes that choosing to live drug-free is an act of leadership and courage, and that everyday decisions can positively influence peers, families, and communities like Hampshire.
The opportunity for you to connect with your child's teacher at Parent-Teacher Conferences is quickly approaching. More detailed information about Parent-Teacher Conferences will come in a separate message soon.
🎃Halloween at HES🎃
Tomorrow is our first holiday celebration of the school year! HES will continue the tradition of participating in a school community parade down State Street. Students and staff will exit the front doors at 9:15 AM beginning with KG, followed by 1st grade, 2nd grade, etc…
On a side note, for the first time in 27 years I am unable to participate in the Halloween parade. 😔 Unfortunately, I am required to attend a virtual 'Admin Academy' from 8:30-12:00 on this day and I cannot be absent. The great news is that Mrs. Leschman will lead the parade and I'm excited for her to have this wonderful opportunity!
Classroom parties will take place at varying times during the day, dependent on each grade level's lunch/recess & specials schedule. Please use the link below to learn more important information regarding Halloween festivities at HES.
Pumpkin Decorating Contest
Tomorrow is the final day of voting for the HES Library's Pumpkin Decorating Contest. A big thanks to Mrs. Goodnite for all of her work to organize this fun activity for students and families! We are amazed at all of the pumpkin character entries and our library is beautifully decorated for the Halloween season!
- Winners will be announced on 11/4.
- Pumpkins should be taken home by 11/6.
Skills for Success Newsletter
The District 300 Skills for Success program supports students in becoming confident and responsible learners. This class meets once per week for 30 minutes with Mrs. Martino. The Skills for Success team has developed a Quarter 1 recap of skills taught. Please click HERE to access the Skills for Success Quarter 1 Newsletter.
Scholastic Book Fair
The Book Fair is coming! The Book Fair is coming!
HES will host the Scholastic Book Fair during the week of November 16-20. Mrs. Goodnite has scheduled each class to have a "Preview Day" on Tuesday, 11/17 in which students are able to look at the available books, posters, and other items in order to make a wish list. Each classroom will also sign up for a "Purchase Time Slot" to provide time for students to make purchases with money put into their 'eWallet'. Students and families can also shop during our Family Reading Night on Thursday, 11/19.
HERE is the HES Book Fair homepage that includes information about setting up the eWallet.
HES Family Reading Night
Mark your calendars for Thursday, November 19, from 5:30–7:00 PM for HES Family Reading Night, held in conjunction with our Scholastic Book Fair! This year’s theme celebrates the humorous children’s books by author John Jory, featuring some silly food characters! Families and students can look forward to a fun-filled evening of reading and literacy activities for each of his books along with a themed photo booth, a scavenger hunt, and guest readers such as Mr. Mike Reid, the Hampshire High School Girls Basketball Team, Mr. Gary D. Wright, former HES teachers Mrs. Elliott and Mrs. Deb Skog, Hampshire firefighters, Officer Paradies, and more! It’s the perfect opportunity to celebrate the joy of reading together while exploring the Book Fair and discovering new favorite books. We can’t wait to see our HES families for an evening that is sure to be food-tastic!
Veterans Day
HES will celebrate Veterans Day on Wednesday, 11/11. Family members of HES students, who are Veterans, are invited to participate in a reception and celebration with us. The schedule of events is as follows:
- Reception in Multi-Purpose Room - 8:30 AM
