Second Home's Monthly Newsletter

This month was full of activities! Highlighted here, clients enjoyed a special guest artist session, coordinated by our guardians. Clients also explored a number of new interest-driven clubs. Our group especially enjoys discovering new clubs and talents in a social setting.

Clients ventured into the community to engage in a group favorite - bowling - and to shop for groceries for upcoming culinary experiences. Our group has a number of talented bowlers and each trip had many strikes! When grocery shopping, our therapists push into the the experience whenever they can. Our Occupational Therapist, Ms. Lauren is pictured here supporting our clients to develop their skills in an authentic setting.

As the weather transitions, so does the activities and events we associate ourselves with. Many of us will celebrate Easter for a week with outdoor activities. However, Easter is not the only major holiday coming up. Many people will also celebrate smaller holidays such as National Volunteer Month and Earth Day. These two dates plays a crucial role for humanity aiding humanity and our sweet home called Earth. K.T.

This month, Second Home started it's partnership with JP Holland Charter Schools. In this mutually beneficial partnership, our clients received support from middle schoolers to complete their activities while the volunteers experienced the positive benefits of supporting the community! We're excited to continue this partnership!

• Housing Options for People with Disabilities Webinar: One size does not fit all. This is especially true when it comes to housing and supports for people with I/DD. Come and meet families who bravely endeavor to navigate their unique housing journey for their loved ones with disabilities. You will learn about various housing settings such as traditional licensed group homes, “unlicensed” shared homes created by parents, apartments, and integrated housing.The panel will be joined by professionals who embrace person-centered planning and assist individuals with I/DD and their families to meet their housing and support needs.
