Happy Friday Hawkins,

It has been an exciting week both at Hawkins and for me personally. It was so nice to finally have some warm weather so students could get outside. This week we had a visit from local author & illustrator Katie Cook. Hawkins third and fourth graders enjoyed her presentation. Our 4th graders got through the ELA portion of the MSTEP. Next week, the 3rd graders will be taking the Math portion of the MSTEP. A reminder that students are not allowed to use phones during the school day, this includes smart watches. At this time they are allowed to have them in their backpack, but they cannot use them during the school day. If you receive a text or call from your child, during the school day please remind them that they could lose the use of the device and they can come to the office if they need to call home or see the nurse.

On a personal note, my youngest daughter had her baby last night, Camden Brielle. I am so excited to be a grandpa for the first time and I am ready for that chapter of my life. Next week I will be gone Thursday through the following Friday to visit my middle daughter. During my absence, Mrs. Toma, our instructional coach, will be handling the day to day items that may come up. If anything that is more serious, or that requires disciplinary action comes up, she will call Mr. Yates of Mr. Renner. If items come up for me, please note that you can still email me and I will address when I get back.

Have a great weekend everyone!

Mr. McAuliffe

**FYI...Please note that for the remainder of the school year, Hawkins Cafeteria no longer has a microwave available for student use. We apologize for any inconvenience this may cause.

Author/Illustrator Visit Katie Cook With 3rd & 4th Grade Author/Illustrator Visit Katie Cook With 3rd & 4th Grade

Katie Cook is the creator of the Nothing Special webcomic on Webtoon and the oldie-but-goodie webcomic Gronk:A Monster's Story (which was one of the first webcomics archived by the library of congress!). She spent several years as one of the primary writers on IDW's My Little Pony: Friendship is Magic comics to the point they made her a pony on the show (really). Then there's all those books she has illustrated and written for a tiny franchise called "Star Wars". Maybe it'll take off one day. Time will tell. She has also written and drawn comics for Marvel, Disney Publishing, Boom! and many other publishers.

Just-In-Case Clothes Just-In-Case Clothes

Please make sure your child has an extra set of clothes in their backpack. Accidents happen while your child is at school (bathroom accidents, playground mishaps, lunchroom spills, ripped or torn clothes, etc.) and we do not have extra clothes to lend out. Having an extra set here at school saves parents from having to make a trip to Hawkins during the day. We appreciate your help!
