Message from the Superintendents
D128 Parents and Guardians:
As we count down the days to the end of the year, there are many special activities and events happenings district-wide. Today, we were able to watch VHHS students at the BD STEM Debate, hosted by our neighbors at BD. A group photo is included in this article, and complete details will be in the next issue of VHHS PawPrints. Thank you to BD for providing this 2nd annual experience for our students.
We are also happy to share some of the exciting news from our students in the last few weeks:
- VHHS Science Olympiad finished 7th in the State tournament and brought home six medals and ten top-10 finishes
- LHS Science Olympiad brought home four medals from the State tournament
- LHS Academic Decathlon team finished 7th in the State competition
Additional good news will follow through this month and next as our students compete in more State tournaments and spring events.
Have a great day!
Ray Lechner and Becky Nelson

D128 Receives Lighting Update at LHS at No Cost Through ComEd Program
Thanks to the ComEd lighting replacement program, LHS has received lighting improvements in the Fieldhouse, Main Gym and West Gym. Through the incentive program, D128 qualified to have all the gym lighting upgraded to dimmable LED lighting at no cost to the District. The District is now investigating using the incentive program to replace or retrofit classroom lighting at LHS.

D128 Students Participate in Day of Learning at the Aon Center in Chicago
Male mentoring groups from LHS and VHHS recently joined peers from Warren, Mundelein, Waukegan, and Zion-Benton High Schools for a powerful day of learning and networking today at the Aon Center in Chicago.
The event featured a dynamic panel of corporate executives who shared their professional journeys and engaged students in meaningful dialogue. Participants had the opportunity to craft and deliver their own elevator pitches, reflect on their personal growth, and set goals for the future.
This experience provided our young men with valuable exposure to multiple pathways to success—and, just as importantly, the chance to see strong, successful reflections of themselves in professional spaces.
