March Update
Glasscock County ISD

Bearkat Families,
We are officially approaching the last six weeks of the school year! Please be on the lookout for a variety of events we hope you’ll be able to attend. We are excited to finish the year strong, with many students participating in extracurricular activities, end-of-year assessments, and various celebrations.
We truly love and appreciate each of our students. Their hard work, dedication, and unique personalities make every day special. Watching them grow and succeed this year has been a joy, and we are proud of all they’ve accomplished.
Let's continue Achieving Excellence Together!

Second Grade Rodeo
Second grade students wore their western duds and saddled up their broncos for our annual rodeo. Before the rodeo, our students read several books: Why Cowboys Need a Brand, Why Cowboys Sleep with their Boots On, Armadillo Rodeo, and Cowboys and Cowgirls: Yippee-Yay! These books taught our students about the important work that cowboys/cowgirls do, making our own brands, designing our dream boots, and the different clothing cowboys/cowgirls wear. Our students learned about the events in a rodeo and enjoyed participating in their own rodeo. Some extra events that were also fun were the tortilla toss and dancing to the Cotton Eye Joe. After the rodeo, our students and parents enjoyed a cowboy lunch.
March Board Meeting
Junior High Fine Arts
Mrs. Solano works with all 7th and 8th graders throughout the year covering all Art TEKS.
Drawing self-portraits in art class is a fun way to learn about yourself and get better at drawing. It helps you pay attention to the details of your face and try new ways to make your art look cool. You can show your personality and feelings through your artwork, while practicing things like shading, shapes, and how to make your drawing look real. Drawing a self-portrait is a great way to be creative and feel proud of your skills as you grow as an artist!
In art class, students get to be creative and design their very own food trucks! This fun activity lets them imagine what kind of food they’d like to sell and how to decorate their truck. Whether it’s tacos, ice cream, or pizza, students can create colorful designs, logos, and even menu ideas that reflect their unique style. It’s a great way to practice drawing, planning, and using their imagination to bring a fun idea to life. Plus, they get to pretend they’re entrepreneurs, building something all their own!

Bond Update
The daycare project is starting very soon! Be on the lookout for crews to begin in mid-April. We are thrilled to have this expanded space for our littlest Baby Kats! Check out the floor plan below.
We are also working on the 2024 bond projects with Collier and CADCO. We can't wait to share updates with you as the drawings are completed.
Academic Update
Assessment Calendar
It’s that time of year again! How did we get here so quickly? Please remember that each of these tests is just one day for our students to shine. The best thing about measuring a student’s abilities is that their only opponent is themselves. We encourage you to help build confidence with your children as they approach each of these assessments, putting their best foot forward. Together, we can achieve excellence!
