Dear Parents and Guardians,

During the 88th Regular Session of the Texas Legislature, House Bill 3 (HB 3), was passed. House Bill 3 (HB 3), effective September 1, 2023, adds the new Texas Education Code section 37.0814. This new law requires each school board to determine the appropriate number of armed security personnel for each district campus.

At the August 15 meeting, the board approved Elementary and Intermediate campuses to utilize Armed Security Guards. Effective today, August 28, all Elementary and Intermediate campuses will have Armed Security Guards present.

We will work with the security guard to ensure they are a positive member of our school community and students are comfortable with additional security on campus.

Nurse Note

Nurse Mies will be conducting vision and hearing screenings for all 5th graders this fall. She will also be screening all 5th grade girls for scoliosis. If your child's screening result requires a referral, it will be sent via email. If your email address has changed, please call the office to update your information.
