First Week of School: Learning Our Routines
What a wonderful first week of school we have had! Mrs. Frederick's classroom has been filled with new friendships, big smiles, curious minds, and lots of opportunities to learn what it means to be part of our school community.
During our first week, we have been focusing on learning our classroom routines. Our preschoolers are practicing how to greet their teachers and friends, eat in the cafeteria, walk safely in the hallway, choose activities, clean up, participate in circle time, and transition from one activity to another. These everyday routines help children feel safe, confident, and ready to learn.
We are also learning that our classroom is a place where we share, take turns, use kind words, listen to one another, and care for our materials. These social-emotional skills take time and practice, and we are so proud of the effort our preschoolers are making each day!
The first week can bring many different emotions. Some children jump right in, while others need a little extra time to feel comfortable. That is completely normal! We are giving each child encouragement, patience, and plenty of opportunities to build confidence and independence.
Thank you, families, for helping make this first week such a positive beginning. We are excited for all the learning, growing, playing, and memories ahead!
Here’s to a wonderful school year!
