Ask Your Child....
- Practice reading and spelling the features and high frequency words sent home on Monday (see picture below)
- To identify persuasive arguments within a text.
- To provide persuasive arguments for an opinion they have.
- To identify events that occur in the AM or PM.
- To read, write, and draw time to the hour (on digial and analog clocks).
- To identify what plants need to survive.
- To identify the parts of a plant (roots, stem, leaves, flower, seeds).
- To explain the difference between needs and wants, and goods and services.
A Few Reminders
- If possible, please invest in a reusable water bottle with a closed mouth lid. This greatly helps prevent spills. See above examples. Please LABEL your child's water bottle. We have many bottles that look alike.
- Please help your child memorize their student ID. This can be found when you log into ParentVUE on the home screen or under Student Info. This helps when Quick Cards are not working. It can also be found on the computer log in cards provided in your child's Back to School Night folder.
- Lost and Found: This year, the lost and found will be donated at the end of every quarter. Please label your child’s clothing, water bottles, etc.
- Throughout the quarters, I will be sending home math and reading books. Please keep these books at home to use for additional reading and math resources.

Help our class raise funds!
Hi Families,
We have an exciting fundraiser in store over the next few weeks!
Key Details:
1. 👍 Sign up at MyBooster.com today.
2. 💵 Donate and ✉️ Share. We are encouraging every family to share their donation page with 10 people.
3. 🎁 Our class will earn fun rewards based on how much we raise as a class during the fundraiser. When our class earns a reward that adds some extra awesomeness to our day, I will be sure to let you know!
4. 🎉 It all comes together with our epic celebration day - the Countryside Fun Run (Sterling, Virginia)!
Our school goal is to raise $20000 for schoolwide assemblies, indoor and outdoor recess equipment, new rugs for every classroom, an outdoor PA system, and birthday books for all students! We can’t do this without everyone’s help! Search for “Countryside Fun Run (Sterling, Virginia)” to sign up today.
Thank you in advance for your generosity!
Kona Ice Is Coming to Countryside!
Hello Parents,
Kona Ice is coming to school on Tuesday, May 5th.
We are using an online payment system to simplify the process and make things easier on our staff. Please click on or copy and paste this link
https://customer.kona-ice.com/#/K417X4372003 into your browser or use the attached QR code to access the system.
* Once you hit the Place Your Order button, you will see two options to select from. Select the Kiddie Cup and hit the Add to Cart button. If you have more than one child attending the school, you would select the Kiddie cup option and add it to the cart once per child.
* Additionally, if you would like to provide a Kona for another student who may not be able to afford one, or multiple Konas, please select the "Pay It Forward" option, and select the number of Konas you wish to provide. You may purchase as many as you like. The same process is followed, select the Pay It Forward option and hit the Add to Cart button.
* Once you have selected the number of Konas you would like to purchase, select the Checkout button. You will then see a cost summary screen where you will click the Almost Done button. On the next page you will select your child's teacher from the dropdown list and insert your child's name. For Pay It Forward, just select your child's teacher and leave the student name blank.
* Please have your order in by 9:00 am on Tuesday, May 5th.
* If you have any questions about the Prepay system, contact Kona Ice's Dean Moore at dmoore@kona-ice.com. Please do not send cash. Pay online! It's super easy!
Thanks for your help in making this event a success. We use this money to help with PBIS activities and incentives, so every cup we sell adds to our big check at the end. If you have any questions, let me know.
Thanks,
Kim
