Have a Safe Holiday Break!

With school out for more than two weeks, it might be a good time to remind older students about the dangers of counterfeit pills laced with fentanyl.

According to public health and law enforcement agencies, accidental overdoses are on the rise in Oregon. Many of these overdoses are due to fake pills that are sold to young people through social media.

Reminder: New Computer Science Initiative

Did you know that computer science skills are needed for most jobs, even in the trades, and that learning these skills can help your child find better jobs after high school?

The State of Oregon plans to invest $5 million in federal dollars to provide students access to computer science education opportunities for every public high school student in Oregon by the 2027-2028 school year.

The Oregon Department of Education is hosting engagement sessions for students, families and community members to share their thoughts and ideas about how to implement the plan.

The sessions will be held via Zoom and the registration links are below:

  • Tuesday, December 20, 2022 5:30 - 7 p.m. (English)
  • Tuesday, January 10, 2023 6 - 7:30 p.m. (Spanish)
